Hanford, which was part of the Manhattan Project, produced much of the plutonium that was used in the "Fat Man" bomb that ended WWII. The area is still contaminated.
It is just outside of the Tri-Cities area in Washington, where I lived for only a short time when I first came to Washington. Now I'm pretty far from there, about 20 miles south of Seattle. |

Yes but the experts interpret the gobbly goop for the believers and their experts interpretations and prophecies can not be doubted ..... not unless, you fancy a drink of Hemlock.

Rubbing the magic stone, anti clockwise, we see Delphi, therein we see the pattern of the working of Oracle. Rubbing the magic stone, clockwise from Delphi then to 1968, we see the Institute of the Future come into view. We see its founder is the inventor of Delphi, as it became known, after it was realised the technique could be manipulated to manufacture a consensus of opinion. And while we are there in 1968 another organization formed, called the Club of Rome, who the Institute of the Future report to. Rubbing the magic stone a bit more clockwise to 1970, we see a report written by the Club of Rome founder, talking of Delphi members, and manufacture of consensus etcetera. We also see two of three Institute of the Future founders leading the first international team looking into future of climate change about then. Rubbing the magic more clockwise we see the Club of Rome report speaking of people needing a real or imagined enemy to unite them and saying they came up with idea of global warming and that, people, were the real enemy. Rubbing the magic stone clockwise from there we see Al Gore, a member of the Club of Rome. And on again we see Agenda 21 and Delphi manipulation experts manufacturing consensus to bring that in. As old Sir Winston Churchill said “The farther backward you can look, the farther forward you are likely to see.”

As far as I know, there has been no resolution of the problems presented by the disposal of nuclear waste materials.

Not to mention the ever growing army of evil terrorists who are bound to strike a nuclear plant sooner or later, less we get more spying going on everyone. And don't forget the threat of water shortages. How will we cool them when we have no more ice left. Do we really need electric anyway?

The question isn't whether nuclear waste disposal has been mitigated at all since 1975 (or whatever arbitrary year you decide on). It's that it remains a serious problem that must be resolved. And it hasn't been.
It's now 2013 and NIMBY is just one small, but critical, part of the problem: http://www.slate.com/articles/health_and......ext.html |

"I assume that such advanced technology would take into account the present risks associated with nuclear power and mitigate or eliminate them."
Maybe I misunderstood your first post where you said that the risks needed to be mitigated. So I guess now the question could be, what is your definition of resolved? That no nuclear waste is created at all? Are we back to one of my first questions? Did you actually mean that the risks need to be eliminated? |

That which does not conform with nature does not operate efferently in this world. That which conforms with sacred science conforms with nature. Power plants, of whatever the kind, and all, must be built to work with nature and human nature, rather than against it, if they are work efferently.
Man power is efferent and a man ought to generate his own power anyway and be free and independent. What is making people fat is them depending on others to supply them power and so on. This is what we need: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTHilzbuORE

Or
Ergo- mitigating the problems of waste disposal would, in fact, mitigate the overall dangers. Eliminating the problems of waste disposal is probably almost as likely as eliminating the overall dangers. |

Finding ways to mitigate the known side effects of mining, refining, transporting, containing and storing radioactive materials that don't have new and dangerous side effects would be useful. How does one mitigate a problem?

If you'e like to play word games, rockwall, I recommend Scrabble. I get it- you seem to believe (or want to believe) that nuclear power is safe. I'm not convinced and nearby Hanford is all the proof I need. You ought to visit there sometime. (But bring some bottled water, just in case.)

I like to play word games? Wasn't it you that said, "Yes. I agree with the call for the "development and deployment of advanced nuclear technology,"".
Based on everything you've said since then, I'm thinkin' you didn't really mean that now did you Bob. |

Yes, I did. But think what you want. (Fusion seems to offer promising results.)
As should be obvious to you by now, I support ALL scientific research. But I don't support trashing the planet in the name of profit. Nice dodge of the Hanford situation and the problem of waste disposal. Please tell us how YOU think nuclear waste should be handled. Or do you think that it isn't a significant problem? |
