Hello everyone,

Ive only posted a few times but would appreciate any help you have to offer on my little idea.

Ive got a little routine I've assembled which uses an arrow shaped sticker and the patter of how magicians keep track of cards. Using this arrow sticker I do an ambitious/transpo style routine and have come up with some good little pieces of comedy, etc with it, but I'm lacking a good closer. Not necessarily the closer but the ending of the closer.
I know what I want to achieve and how to get there, so here it is.

The basic idea for the finish is similar to the Sankey plot, where a signed card is lost in the deck, he then introduces a business card/button/chinese coin vanishes it and it appears in the box and has landed on the selected card, but not only that its also stapled, or sown, or attached by a split pin as well!

Anyway heres the problem:

I hand the sticker to one spectator to look after for a moment and get the other to sign the card that we've been using so far in the routine.
I have the first helper to scrunch up the sticker into a little ball, and I get the person to place their newly signed card into the deck, then shuffle if they want and finally place the deck in its box
I ask for the scrunched up sticker back

set the "sticker" alight over the box as it "vanishes"

I follow to open the box and spread the cards, finding the sticker on the back of the signed card

(so far I've got a method, very similar to Sankey's yet has some complexities due to the way I want the routine to flow)

But not only has it just found the signed card its also...

that's the problem I need a final kick right there to make the desired (and achievable) ending as well as a pretty awesome souvenir for the spectator.

What for me is ideal, would be to have the sticker printed on the back of the card, yet unfortunately I can't find a method to put it through the printer.

I was thinking of just gluing it straight on the back for the ending

But I would love a fresh perspective or any other ideas, or pretty much anything!

So if you have an idea please say, but quickly here's the guidelines:

What ever climax is on the back of the card can't be seen from the face (when its being signed its face up and lying on the table)

and

The ending mustn't be too bulky (so when laid face up on a table it doesn't have a raised area)

I understand that the explanation I've given is a bit vague and if you have any questions just ask!

I will really appreciate any ideas!

Thanks a lot

Leo C

The sticker is roughly 2 inches by 3/4s of an inch.

Have you tried tapping the card around the edges to a piece of paper, then feeding the paper through the printer? If it's too thick, maybe you could split the card, and then tape the split section on the paper and feeding that through?

First print out a sheet of paper with the sticker you want printed in the center of the paper. Then follow Biggen12002's plan of taping the card over the printed arrow sticker using masking tape on all the edges of the card to hold it to the paper. Run the paper through the printer again to get the image on the card. That should give you an accurate printing. If the ink doesn't dry easily on your card, you may have to use some acetone (nail polish remover) to rub off the varnish that is on many types of cards. This will make the area printable.

I'm thinking that Sanky's routine has a surprise ending because the object is fastened to the card and it is an object you don't expect to be fastened to a card. The sticker is something you expect to be fastened to a card, so it doesn't have the same impact. It is going to be challenging to overcome that basic weakness. Also there is no reason to automatically assume there wouldn't be duplicate stickers available.

This is the best I can think of. Instead of having the sticker disappear, have it attached to the back of a joker and put on top of the deck and then back in the box.
The idea is that the joker card will find the signed card and when you spread them sideways, the arrow on the joker will point to the next card which is supposed to be the signed card. Like it can magically locate the signed card.
You turn over the card the joker is pointing to and it isn't signed and is the wrong card.. Then you turn over the joker and it turns out it is the signed card. That becomes you climax.

You just need to lose the original joker somehow.. leave it in the box? Let it slide over the edge of the box when replacing the cards and get rid of it? Or somehow remove the sticker.
