You know, after trolling through the Café and picking up quite a bit of information and advice, it's finally time to step up and say "Hi." Quick introduction:
My name is Jason Stack, and I've just gotten through my first year of magic being chosen as my personal midlife crisis. I did bits and pieces of magic as a kid and into high school, but when dating started, uh, well, it went a bit to the wayside. Last year, I walked into Gibbol's in St. Louis, which I hadn't been to since I was a kid and fell back into love with performing. I had no intention of getting as much into it as I have, with maybe only hopes of performing for the Shriner's Children's Hospital with the local IBM Ring, but after busking a good amount this summer, I'm gearing up to start trying to get gigs starting doing the senior care facilities. I've been doing a blog for the past couple of months (jasonstackmagician.com), but, if anything, two posts really state why I love this community: http://jasonstackmagician.com/?p=54 and http://jasonstackmagician.com/?p=222. They basically discuss the fellowship we have in the magic community and why I think, even if magic is not at the top of everybody's entertainment list, it is apart from the other performing arts for this reason. Not trying to plug the blog, it's just those are written examples that I don't want to go ahead and write a second time (it's the day job of being a programmer taking over for me). Anyway, I hope that as things go along, maybe I'll have something really to contribute to the magic community. It really is a great group of people. |

Hurm. I guess I shouldn't have used the word "trolling." Uh, bad choice of words. Please read that as "lurking."

Welcome Jasonstack,
Yes, lurking is a better choice. Are you currently working on Kid's Magic? -Mary Mowder |

I do work in Kid's Magic, but I prefer to do more along the lines of Family Friendly. I love doing things for the local charities, which pretty much, in the case of the IBM Ring 1 amount to children's charities. All things considered, though, I plan more on trying to do the local senior care facilities.
