I was playing with my HD last nite & my new Alchemist's Bane cards for a performance idea with HD & AB (uses one or a few people) -
Full storyline not created yet, just the basic idea here;

Bring out pouch with AB cards & HD box, place on table card pouch closer to spectator, if doll in box, place in center more towards you or pull out doll later-
1 - While your back it turned, have person(s) chose 8 of the benign cards & 1 poison card, all of they're FREE choice.
2 - Then have them lay out card face down in a Tic-Tac-Toe type square with poisoned card anywhere in the square (have them space them a bit). Turn around & present HD - remove from box/off your neck, etc.
3 - Lay HD on your hand,(evening performance) perhaps light a candle & ask the powers that be help divine & guide,etc,......
4 - Slowly move you hand over each card, as you approach the poison card - doll rises a bit, move past poison card doll lowers,.....
5 - After passing over cards & dolls reaction to 1, remove doll off your hand & lay it down on poison card,(lay your hands palm side up on top table left/right of cards), spectator takes doll off card & turns over card to reveal poison card, turn over rest of cards & show the benign cards !

**Bonus - if spectator also has the Nux Vomica card in the benign selections, you can have the doll react to that & (idea from Mind Guerrilla) point out that Nux Vomica may have been harmless for the purpose of alchemical experimentation, we now know it as the base for deadly strychnine. Therefore, the spec's miss is now converted to a hit !

I think I may make a box with scratch marks on the INSIDE of the lid.
The lid would need to lock, to "keep him in"

Several of the creepy boxes I use have key locks or hasps for padlocks. Obviously, props that are magical, or perhaps even magically dangerous, must be kept in locked boxes to keep them out of the wrong hands.

Iove the idea about hanging it around your neck! You could get people unwittingly asking you to perform before they even realize that they are asking you to do an effect!
The difficult must become easy, the easy beautiful and the beautiful magical.

I wonder how to make the box shake rock as if something's trying to get out.

Maybe,use a *attle box!
Shake the doll in the box, open the box and the little Bugger is gone!

Very nice idea from our reptilian bro.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

Awhile back I designed and built my own doll house, the happenings include rappings from inside ( the knocks are actually coming from inside the house ), the doll's hand visibly sticks out of one of the curtained windows and a toy phone rings. I have used this for Halloween shows with great response.

Below is a link of a brief demonstration, during actual performances I add a spirit slate and a few more goodies..it gets pretty intense.

Did I mention the above effects are under your complete control at all times via wireless remote.

Very Cool A-M! Where can I buy gadgets that I can activate via remote control to knock or move move something?

I think it would be cool using the doll with IT and the Fearson-hookup. Then snapping off the thread near the doll (or using wax), doing the Haunted Doll-routine and finally letting a spectator take the doll from your hand. What do you think? To me it would look like REAL magic Smile.

I'm Loving all the "Presentation ideas" being discussed. Great to see fellow magicians be pro active about bettering the trick they've just invested in. Many of us fall prey of just opening a trick and performing it exactly as we see, never developing the patter and presentation further. We've, System 6, have passed on some of the great work you've all have been doing with the Doll to Rogue the creator, And Rogue say's "You guys all Make him proud"...Truth be told you make us ALL proud. As I mentioned to DaffyDoug, It is Great to see so many magicians Add there own twist on things. MerlinMagic and Bart have done GREAT Work as well. That being said I love Daffydoug's idea of hanging it on his neck. I would love to see the possibilities of having it as a KeyChain. We, System 6, are now working to see if that is something we would consider doing a limited release on. A Compact Small Voodoo Doll that hangs on your Keychain, For those who might forget to wear it, they wont forget their keys. Smile

Merlinsmagic mentioned using the doll with his Alchemist's Bane cards, awesome idea. I've used it in a similar fashion with a Living and Dead test.

Another thing I've done is taken a hair from a spectator and wrapped it around the doll. I then have them raise and lower their hand as the doll rises and falls with their actions. I had one hilarious lady in her 60's that asked me if I wanted a pubic hair, I almost died laughing. Then after seeing the doll stand up during the effect she said "Imagine how it would've stood up if you had used the pubic hair." I wonder how a novelty phallic shaped version of this with a viagra wand to wave over it would go over...

I have another idea for the doll that has to do with Haitian Vodou rituals, the soul and essence of a man, and some made up mumbo jumbo. I have to purchase a few things and get to work on it. I'm not sure it's going to work but if it does I think it'll be awesome.

I posted this on the thread in latest and greatest but I'll post it here too. I wish they would combine all these haunted doll threads into one.

Not a great idea IMO.
#1 It's already about as small as it needs to be, any smaller and it's going to start being difficult for spectators to see and appreciate unless their face is inches from your hand. I would actually like to see a larger version.
#2 While wearing the doll as a necklace would look pretty cool and interesting and be a conversation starter, I think having it on a keychain would reduce it to looking like a cheesy souvenir or toy instead of something that could be real and have strange and unusual powers or properties.
Just my .02, your mileage may vary.

LOL Great Response Dr. Von magic. I guess you're right the Key chain, would dilute the impact the doll can have vs. wearing still keeps its importance. People still wear crosses, star of david and / or heirloom.

I will have to agree with Dr Van, I see the necklass as a convo starter & looks great, key chain would cheapen it to me......& your HD deserves to be presented in the best ways - IMO

& any smaller I think would be too small. Plus I wouldn't want someone to ask what cereal I got the little toy stick-thing from.......

Going to a local Harvest festival with the wife this weekend, time to put my HD on a "old leather" necklass, l have a feeling the holiday spirits there will be extra playful ! Smile (Maybe I can get a vid or 2 performing my HD)

Hey Guys just saw this review in the Penguin review. It's literally the first BAD review we've gotten. I know some people had to fiddle with the doll a bit, but would love to know how the doll "completely didn't' work" Sounds Fake? Person said the doll did not work at all in there hand and that the DVD was No Good ;/

For me it was a little hard the first times. My performance is still not perfect, but it does work and it gets better all the time. Some won't need practice, some would need a couple of days. I can't imagine how it should not work. Maybe the doll was broken somehow? Or the reviewer didn't put enough time into watching the dvd/practicing.

Ouch......after I watched dvd, I was up & running performing for friends, my bank teller, family, & couple other people in the 1st day & went over great with no probs.
I never really viewed it as a left or right hand item (i use my right for this feels best for me).

As for the dvd "no good" what is that supposed to mean....didnt work/play, person didn't think it was a full lenght movie that they expected it should have been.....?? Sounds more like this person got it & just couldn't get it thru lack of practice or thought it should magically jump around on its own.......some people get the hang of it a tad sooner than others.

Maybe I can post a review on Penguin even ghough I got it thru you.....
