I'm not sure about the venom tossed in by Xiqual, but I didn't mean anything bad from my statements. Trick collectors are in this field. They try to buy and get everything. Usually they never do most of the stuff they get... which is great.
I know a few personally. I will go over to their place and either watch something or read something they have. Later I will perform it and they will be amazed. I usually get, "Wow, where can I find that!?" I point to one of their books and say, "It's in that book you own." So I really don't care if people collect effects just to have a collection of secrets. Most will never perform them and most will forget they even own them. It comes with the territory. And yes, I've sold stuff here. Usually stuff I've had for awhile and realized I wasn't using it or didn't fit my particular needs. Sometimes I look around and realize I have way too much stuff that's been collecting dust so it's time for a spring cleaning. I might actually be doing that in the next few weeks because I've noticed a large collection of DVDs that I've rarely watched more than twice. I tend to keep stuff that I go over once a year or so. You won't see me parting with PME, 13 Steps, Stunners, etc. I read them once a year and always gets something out of them. As I said, I was giving a solution to the person asking why there were DVDs of this collection sold so soon. More than likely it had nothing to do with the worth of the video. Anyway I'll leave the thread for further venom. It does remind me why I left this place for so long. I really didn't miss it and now I see why. Have fun gang. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and Happy Holidays. Greg

I commented on the product and had planned to add further commentary, but this appears to be the wrong thread for reviews.
Can someone point to the correct thread? Tony |

To play DA though, some of us to appreciate Xiqual's comments, however acerbic they seemed. I saw him as "defending the little guy," and I do think there is too much "magic police" activity that goes on here sometimes. To each their own. Regarding this DVD set, I wonder what the appetite is like out there for this more traditional style of mentalism. Mr. Osterlind is such a prolific creator, his routines almost always find their place somewhere. The man is a genius, no denying that. I'd love to see more reviews if anyone would care to share. |

I performed "Hands Off" from Richard's book 'Six Shooter' last weekend, and it totally fried my audience. I ordered the new DVD set even though I have most of the same material from his book. I enjoy listening to Richard's finer touches, and so to me it's always worth spending the extra money.

Thanks Jared. I really appreciate your comments.
Just for clarification, the routines on the Sapphire Collection from the book are almost all updated. In addition, that represents only half the material. Most of it has never seen print before. Richard |

I confess to being a bit of a "collector". It's consistent with my curious nature and love of learning. I enjoy watching good performances and delight in clever thinking. I believe it gets my own creative juices flowing.
I also accumulate items from lecturers because I want to support the magic lecture circuit. I thoroughly enjoyed Richard's lecture in Edmonton this year and bought a few things. Granted, Richard hardly needs my humble contribution but a purchase can be a gesture of appreciation and an acknowledgement of a job well done. Hmm, I may be drifting into "Love Languages" territory here so I digress. I have been trying to pare back my purchases lately due to other priorities. A collection of Richard Osterlind's best material though? Who can resist? |

Still going through this set here, between gigs. I've long considered Richard's books (and many other authors, not trying to leave anyone out) required reading for mentalists, and I've probably forgotten just how much I've learned from them and the DVD sets over the past 8-10 years. So far:
-enjoying the updates to the existing material -thinking more about new and pre-existing material overall -The "Thoughts on Mentalism" sections are crucial viewing, at least to those of us who perform. Granted, not everyone will agree with what's being said, and if your thoughts fall into that category, you are welcome to them. More to follow... |

I haven't seen one thing by Richard that I didn't enjoy from end to end. The appearance of this set so close to the holidays cannot be better timing.

It was with great expectations I looked forward to the launch of The Sapphire Collection.
Richard established his own standard with his first series, Mind Mysteries, and many have said that it would take a lot to beat this. However, everything he has released since, had its own great and unique character. So is it also with The Sapphire Collection There is material for both stage and close up, and everyone will find much they will use for their real audiences. I was really interested in how he would perform effects like Hands Off, Perfected Add a Number and Almost Real Prediction described in Six Shooter - and I was not disappointed. But there's more here! OsterLind Read, Mind Reading with Cards and Vinyl Folder Q & A's effects I will tap into my heart! Others will find their their favorites. If you have not ordered it, do it now - you will not regret it! The Sapphire Collection is highly recommended!

I got the set, have only looked at Hands Off and am disappointed that it requires what may be difficult to get props.

Xcath1, what's difficult about the props for Hands Off? If you can go to your local convenience/retail store to buy cards, what's the problem? Are you referring to the large/jumbo deck? I hope you realize that is not mandatory to presenting this effect. You could use a mini deck. But if that's not what you meant, then I'm confused. I have Sapphire Collection and was very impressed by the simplicity of Hands Off. Do you actually have Sapphire Collection?

I agree Hands Off is great effect and very easy to set up.
You can do it with any size deck all you need to do it buy cards in the size you require if you don't have some at home already. This is a great DVD set all the routines are very good. I like the Poor Mans Book Test which is a very easy way to do a book test with any book and it's impromptu. We have this set here http://www.saturnmagic.co.uk/new-magic/t......ind.html

Hello Mark
You are selling the dvd at a very good price compared to your competitors, up to £10 less which is great. Your website also says about loyalty points. How does that work. Thanks Raj |
