Randy Wakeman reports the following:
My long-time friend Simon Lovell has been on the mend. For the last 7 days, he's been in the intensive care / trauma unit in Queens, after falling and breaking his right leg in three places. Titanium rods were inserted through several procedures, and when I spoke with him he still had the morphine drip going. Simon always sounds like that, though. Anyway, he's not going to be hopping about for a good long while. If you'd like to mail him a Get Well card: Simon Lovell 65-49 Alderton St. Rego Park, NY 11374 |

I am going to send him a freakin' hilarious card.
Thanks for the headsup Zombie. I don't have Facebook so I would have had no way of knowing about Simon's, Fall From Grace. |

Hello All
Simon is not only a exceptionally skilled/knowledgeable Performer of course, but an awesome/generous guy as well. I met him several years ago at the then-new Magic Shop on 34th St. & 7th Ave (forgot its name, dunno if it's still in biz); I was demo'n the Zarro Shuffle for a few fellow Magicians (Herb personally taught me himself when I was a Demonstrator at Tannen's many years ago) - Simon said I had a great handling & asked if he could give me a little pointer nonetheless - of course I said YES; long story short, it did indeed add a nice "touch" to my handling & I still use it to this day. Thanks, Simon sending you positive-healing vibes, get/feel better really soon, Bro... |

Hey Caférs,
Just heard about Simon's situation and I also heard that there is an effort underway to provide some financial relief to Simon to make his recovery go better (details below). I know times are tight for everyone, but if you are able to help please do so... Danny Below is from John Born ---------------------------------- Hey Guys - As some of you may know, Simon Lovell recently suffered a very serious fall and as a result, he has gone through extensive surgery. Although he is now doing much better, he still has quite a long way to go in his recovery. And, he is still facing a rather long stay at his current care facility. At this point, he has very few ways to pass his time, other than several grueling physical therapy sessions each day and a tiny TV in his room. With that said, we are looking to raise some money that will enable him to get through his time a bit easier. Our main focus is to enable him to get online during his stay (no internet in his facility), and that basic cost will be around $300 (the equipment is $125, and after that we would need to pay by the gigabyte). Any additional funds that we raise will go toward some of Simon’s other needs during his hospitalization. Simon has brought smiles for decades, and a few of us have decided to pitch in and do what we can to brighten his recovery. Anyone else that would like to pitch in is greatly appreciated! We would like to bring him this surprise as early as the end of the weekend. To donate via PayPal to crazymagicman@yahoo.com and mark it as a gift. Thanks again, John B -------------------------------------------------------- |

Sorry to be late to this thread but I've been replying to folks in the original Randy Wakeman one in the Workers section!
Just wanted to say thanks for all the best wishes and positive thoughts from you guys. It is truly humbling to know that people care so much. It takes away the pain faster the morphine they are still pumping into me three times a day! John Born came in the other day with a hot spot and other computer toys and now I can access the internett in full stereo and so much more. I's impossible to thank everybody who helped enough. You will all hold avery special place in my heart. Recovery continues slowly and painfully ... my specialists are hoping to release me in early January if all the physical re-habkeeps going at its current rate. Keep your fingers crossed. Much love to all, Simon |

It appears that Simon is back in the hospital. There are various reasons stated on both Facebook and the Genii Forums, and I have no idea which to believe, but I saw Eric DeCamps' photo of Simon.
Best wishes to Simon for a speedy recovery! You're a good guy Simon! I hope you are better soon! -Mark |

He is still in the hospital, he won't be going back to his apartment, and plans are underway to get him to the U.K. to live with his father, Tony. The current situation is not good. I spoke with both Simon and his father earlier today, so this is about as current as it gets. I've never done a medical fundraiser ever before, but today I started one. http://www.gofundme.com/b0tmc4 |
