What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about?
My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |

Agreed! If some jerk wants to be considered tough, let him stand on a corner and ask for all comers. The "sucker" in "sucker punch" is NOT the recipient! Anyone of only normal abilities can punch another person and cause damage. What a bunch of losers we have managed to bring to their teens...

Thirty-four views and only one response?
I'm shocked that no one has chimed in on this other than Mr. Mystoffelees above. Isn't anyone else outraged by this? Yikes!

I thought about posting a tangential reply about the minimum age for capital punishment vis a vis the current interpretation of the 8th Amendment, but I didn't want to derail things that far.

Lobo, I'll say this, if you derail, you derail with style.
Now, please enlighten this lay person about your thoughts in a PM because I don't have a clue as to what you're talking about and I don't feel like Googling the 8th Ammendment at this late hour. I'm not the lawyer, you are. I only hope you're as outraged by the knockout game as I. If not, well, so be it.

8th Amendment prohibits cruel and unusual punishment. Currently, it prohibits the death penalty as a sentence for defendants under 18 years of age.

If I wanted to post tangentially, like Lobo, I would suggest that the game doesn't really even exist as a problem. A few incidents might sound awful, but in a country with 300 million people, it can hardly be called a trend. But the media has to report stuff, so they report it as if it were something other than a few incidents.

Yeah, well the point of the thread is that "supposedly" assault and battery and murder has become a sort of game--Clockwork Orange style--among some inner-city, disaffected youth. They run around punching people to see if they can knock them out on the first punch. And this game is viral. Youths all over the world have taken it up, like Parkour or XCM, and now we are all in danger. It's a trend, a fad, something to worry about.
Nonsense. It's another example of the media taking some crazy stuff and "warning" us about it. Preppers beware. But you can't prepare against this! It's horrifying, isn't it? The media, I mean. |

Exactly.
"A disturbing and potentially deadly game known as 'spree shooting' is gaining new attention after recent incidents reported in...." That's the text beginning the video in the OP's link, slightly modified. What does "gaining new attention" mean? |

This is just one of the results of our declining society. Children born out of wedlock without having a mother and a father. 73% of black children are born out of wedlock without having a mother or a father and 33% of white children are born out of wedlock without having a mother or a father These percentages are a horrible indication of what is to come. Obviously these kids playing this game have a lack of respect for fellow humans. Respect is so much harder to teach and instill in kids without having both parents around. Society has become busied and fast paced not allowing time or energy for a single parent to properly raise their children. Of course there are always exceptions to the rule and this doesn't apply to all. But I bet if you did a study on the kids that were caught playing this game- majority would be from a single parent home.

They feel they have no future and so they look for euphoria. The be happy propaganda crew, would tell them to just be happy, just smoke some pot.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

Boys will be boys &
Idle hands are the devils workshop This takes things to a new level, but the concept of bored children turning to bad behavior is hardly new in society. When I was a kid we were into prank phone calls. No one ever got hurt from it, but it was wrong and some people were insulted. ie. Dial the phone with the number that spells out "BIG NOSE" and ask the person if they know that their phone number spells that. Creative and rude, no one got hurt. I fear our society is turning mean. I don't think there is the need for racial labeling here. I think you will find all races exhibit some degree or another of searching for social entertainment. We need to keep kids busy. After school sports can work well, especially if the coach knows how to teach morals along with the game.

Second, if you read what I posted earlier- not ONE thing I posted mentions religion or God. What I mentioned would fall under, how you would put it, Parenting 101. So if you think spending time with your kids, teaching them about compassion, love and respect for each other falls under "Holy Rolling" well makes me wonder just what values, ethics and morals you think are appropriate to teach your kids? Maybe you can enlighten us here and make some suggestions as to why YOU THINK children are turning out and behaving improperly in such a fast declining manner? And YOUR reasons to why what I previously suggested is so far off base and just holy rolling? Please tell us Al? Your One Trick Pony, RNK
