Hi everyone, with the busy Christmas / Xmas party period approaching, does anyone have any ideas for routines we can all integrate into our close-up sets that actually relate to the Christmas / Xmas? How about a bill switch switching a bill to a small folded napkin made as a snowflake...Probably have to get a big TT for that though! Always good fun performing something relative to the times...any ideas?

I like doing Sankey's Snowstorm effect as it uses a drawing of a snow globe and those are primarily seen at Christmas time. Sankey also has some work on using jingle bells for magic tricks that you might want to check out.
Best of luck.

You talking about Dan Garrett of Atlanta, GA? If you are, I see him occassionally at the Magic Club meetings in Atlanta.

If performing with cards, incorporate red and green back designs.

General_Magician, you are indeed correct, Dan's from GA. I used to be a member of Ring 9 when I lived in Atlanta. If you check Dan's catalog, you'll white sponge balls.

"Presents of Mind" is a Christmas version of Deja Zoo from Sammy Smith. It is an easy to understand Mental Effect.
Some classic effects can be made more seasonal by the Music, patter, colors or the Objects produced. Check out your regular repertoire and see if you could make some changes. I also add some Family friendly Holiday riddles. -Mary Mowder |

I forget the name of the trick, but it uses a DB and a Hershey Kiss Sticker. Spectator chooses a card, it's lost, they blow a kiss to towards the deck, when the magician spreads the deck there is a Hershey kiss on the back of one card, it's turned over and it's the selected card. The spectator holds out their hands, the card is held above their hands and a Hershey kiss drops into their hand. The card is turned over to show the sticker is gone. I use this when working during the holidays.

I'm sorry,
In my earlier answer I missed the Close-Up part of your question and forgot which forum I was in. Mary |

You could do a version of out of this world with double blank cards. Write children's names on one side and naughty or nice on the backs. Have the spectator sort by name only and show they'd be the perfect helper for Santa.
