Hi all
Not sure how to phrase this without getting in to trouble... For the those out there who regularly use linking rings, how "wide" do you find it most practical to have your "key" or do you leave it touching / almost touching if that makes sence.. Thanks |

I use a K** of about 2 inches, very large. It depends on what moves you do, or how skilled you are with the rings. Use what ever size works for you

For my Owen 12 inch rings, I use 22mm or 7/8 inch which is the exact width of my thumb.

My key's gap is about 1.5 inches. As stated above, the opening is determined more by personal preference, and the moves you want to do, than what is "right".

Personal preference does not influence magnetic attraction within specific makes. In those specific cases, you can't have more lineal resistance then the "powers" let you or the metal will not hold tight. Same is true for the other kind if you "catch" my meaning. There is a limit of around 1.25 before either type remains open for business 24/7
Conversely, The M type needs a minim amount to be open for business or it might not easily let guests pass through. Sorry for the obviscation

You obfuscated quite well.
What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about?
My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |

I had no idea how wide my keyring gap was until I checked, and it's EXACTLY 1 inch wide. This is on my set of 12 inch RnT2 Rings.........works like a champ for me...

There is a wealth of routines currently on the market in book and DVD form. Any of these you can learn and commit to memory. It is even better if you learn a couple and read a few dozen, as you will have enough information and material to create a routine that totally your creation. After several months of going through the routine daily, you should then know if you have to change the key. Most of the time you do not. Good luck on your adventure. |

By the time the size has been noticed, it's far too late.

I prefer a bit wider gap. I use the 10' rings, and am currently practicing the Pop Haydn 4-ring Comedy routine.
I am not in my studio to measure at the moment, but I would guess 1 1/2 to 2" is close.

That's about what my key is (2") and it's easy to work with (10" rings) I belive Pop has said as much as 4" on his larger rings. The "key" to you answer is, the bigger the better; if you can hide it, it's small enough.
