Can anyone recommend any books about gamblers and conmen? I have just read a book on Titanic Thompson and crave more.

Amarillo Slim in a World Full of Fat People: The Memoirs of the Greatest Gambler Who Ever Lived. I really enjoyed this one.

The Fast Jack book is an absolute must read.
One I will also add to the list that, unfortunately, seems to have gone unnoticed by many magicians is called "The Mark Inside" by Amy Reading. It chronicles the history of Frank Norfleet, a Texas rancher who was swindled in a con and subsequently tracked the men down. In West Texas, where I grew up he was a legend. |
