Do you play a guitar? If so, what kind do you have and what type of music do you play?

Over the years I've had Fender Jazzmaster, a Les Paul Gibson, a Yamaha acoustic twelve-string, and an acoustic Martin Dreadnaught. I also play fiddle. I enjoy playing rock, blues and bluegrass.

I have a Fender Telecaster, an Italia Rimini 6, a Tanglewood accoustic and a 3 string cigar box tuned to open G.
I play anything that I like the sound of.

Samich 6 string acoustic, Yamaha 12 string acoustic, 1961 Fender Jaguar and 1976 Gibson Les Paul Custom. I was playing classic rock when it was known as todays hits.
Lately I have been into finger picking easy listening music like "Misty" on my acoustic. |

I'm mainly playing two Godin guitars right now. My acoustic is from the Seagull line and my electric is a Fifth Avenue hollow body. I'm still holding onto my Musicman Silhouette but haven't played for quite a while.

Let's see the current stock is a 1973 Martin D28 6 string and an early 70's Martin D 28 12 string. A collings cutaway. An Ibenez george benson GB 10, a beautiful electric my cousin Tom Patton in PA built, an Asher Ben Harper prototype lap steel, a Beard "Mike Auldridge" dobro, a Wolfe ported dobro, a Celtic Cross Baritone Weissenborn. I think that covers my current herd.

Y'all have some mighty nice gi-tars.
Me, just an Epiphone six string accoustical, wannabe Gibson, made in Kalamazoo, MI I bought from another wannabe gi-tar player in 1977 who really couldn't play, much like me. But I got a great deal on it at $125. Not a Martin, but works for me. I taught myself the basic chords and have fun strumming old fifties and sixties three chord wonders. I love the thing.
What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about?
My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |

I GO' BLISTAS ON MY FINGAS from the cheap guitar that I own. But I don't play well enough to deserve anything better, frankly.

I started out as a musician and still try and get out to play locally. I am actually trying to put together a recording studio now. I play almost exclusively dobro these days

I always wanted to play a dobro. If I learn that I can be my own bluegrass band! (Apart from the fiddle and guitar, I'm somewhat adequate on five string banjo and mandolin.)
Oh, wait- I forgot the bass. Well that's just a big fiddle, really, so it shouldn't be a problem. |

Your banjo rolls will help you on the dobro. Remember, dobro is just like a regular guitar if you only have one finger.
The really great thing about playing dobro is, that at the local jam, I'm the only dobro player and about 30 guitarists. so I always get called to do a solo. |

GBDGBD is standard dobro tuning although sometimes I play in D tuning and sometimes I drop the lower G down to E for sort of a G6th tuning. I started on Bottle neck and national steel guitars but once I discovered dobro, I never went back.

No electrics anymore, just an Ovation lyre back. Mostly
for jammin' blues rock.

My main instrument is actually keyboards. But I've always doubled on guitar. I love my trusty Fender Telecaster, which has traveled all over the world with me since 1981. Lost my original (older) one, along with all our musical and sound equipment when our cargo plane exploded while traveling with Frampton in 1980.
I also have an Ibanez nylon string acoustic, an Epiphone steel string acoustic, and a Pro Sessions bass. During my touring days I was also privileged to play several Les Paul's (which belonged to my employers). Stylistically, you name it, I'll try to play it! Obviously I'm a rock 'n' roller, but I'm also a classically trained pianist and love early big band jazz from the 20's though the 50's. And I'm a huge admirer of Jobim. |

(sorry I keep "dropping names" but that's my history) ... for the song "Show Me The Way", we used open G turning (with the top and bottom E strings tuned down to D, and the A string tuned down to G. It allows for some really neat open-string voicings! |
