I am posting this here because Granville Taylor (Faust) is a remarkable builder of fine magic apparatus, in addition to having spent many years touring one of the great illusion shows. You may or may not recognize his name, but he is definitely someone who has been there and done that. I hope you will take the time to learn about him. I had the pleasure of corresponding with Mr. Taylor a number of years ago, and found him to be a very knowledgeable and kind man.
Here he is in a music video, preparing for a performance of Amac's legendary "Find the Lady", with the original apparatus from Amac and Cecil Lyle. You can find a description of this illusion in "Greater Magic". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEo-sf1D6tE You might also wish to check out his web pages... http://www.freewebs.com/taylormademagic/ http://www.faust.i8.com/about.html

He also has published a book, but it is a little expensive do to the exchange rate. He has published how he made a number of his tricks and gimmicks.
Richard Hughes has the book, so maybe he will ring in some additional information. |

He has published six books....One on his exploits, one on John Martion ( I have this one. It is okay,) and there are three books on making his items that I have seen. They are pretty complete as far a drawing but you have to have the skill to make the stuff and understand things. Not for the beginner. All run about $125 or so each.

I have in my collection, Kato's (an early British Music Hall Magician) die box that was once owned by Mr. Taylor. I contacted him to research the box and he was quite helpful and a wonderful gentleman. We sent several emails back and forth, all of which I treasure.
Unfortunately, his e-mail was hacked lately and I received the "I'm stuck in...and need money" email. I guess it happens to the best of us.

I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant. Visualize Whirled Peas! |
