Hello, I'm a 21 year old from Portugal, and I'm here joining your forum because I want to be a part of the magic community and can't find any sort of "club" in Portugal. I've been lurking for a few years but only got around to register now (actually wanted to register some time ago but it's so much of a hassle finding a email that works with your forums >_>).

I started doing basic sleights when I was 12 years old and stopped entirely about a year later. From 17 until now I watched a ton of magic but never learned anything. 2 and a half years ago I met my girlfriend who is fascinated by magic, and that inspired me to learn.

Now I do basic card stuff (still really basic, I'm learning!) and I'm trying to get into coins.
Hope I can learn from you guys so later I can give back to the community.

Don't worry, there are many beginners here. I think the advice here makes for good progress if one remembers to stop reading and go practice LOL.

Is you girlfriend learning Magic as well?

Not really, she enjoys more wondering how things are done than actually knowing, and I like that

One piece of advice: Don't show her how you do your effects. I made that mistake with my daughter. She is fascinated by the effect, but then just HAS to know how it is done. I used to show her, and then the effect lost all it's value to her. Now, I don't show her. Some she figures out, some she doesn't. However, those she figures out, don't ruin it for her because she feels good about figuring them out.
