Hello!
Names Rob and I am 22 years old used to perform magic for fun when I was in highschool. Looking to get back into it because I love performing for people! lol I havent performed or even practiced in a few years though... I am hoping over the next few months to build up the confidence again and maybe start doing business parties or something of the nature. |

Welcome rjb1991,
The good news is you haven't been out of Magic for that long. Some people return to Magic after a 20 year hiatus or longer. You have matured though so you may be surprised at your new take on the same Magic and your new tastes in Magic. Looks like it will be a Happy New Year! A New Year party could be a great place to get back into it but start early before you or they have had much to drink. Just concentrate on a couple of your old favorites. It won't all come back at once and you want your experience (and their's) to be a good one. -Mary Mowder |

Speaking of drinking what are your thoughts on having a few drinks before a performance? lol I feel like I would be much more nervous than I was before simply because it has been a bit.

I've tried having a beer but it was no help at all.
!/2 beer may help me a little but I've seen a few Close-Up guys (some pretty famous) who, over time, were betrayed by their habits. I'm afraid to get started. I've seen some guys (not famous) who thought they were better after a couple of drinks but they were the only ones fooled. Some can, some can't. -Mary Mowder |

Welcome!
If you just focus on what is entertaining, the nerves will go away. You may be focusing too much on the magic. Think about the effects you like that are more about entertainment and not heavy magic. start with those. You could also start with something light and then move to something heavier. For example, there are ton's of "bar bet" type effects or stunts. They make great openers because they aren't always "magic". Try a "bar bet" type effect that would be a good lead in to a legitimate magic trick, then do the magic trick. KJ |

Are we allowed to post videos of performances in hopes of obtaining criticism?
