Pretty interesting experiment. I wonder what the international repercussions will be?

Good move on their part. Should generate a lot of revenue for the country, I would imagine.

The repercussions will be a take over of the country by drug dealers who call themselves leaders.

Sure. Do the math.
Average pot smoker smokes 1.8 grams a week. Population of Uruguay is about 3.3 million people. If 10% smoke on a regular basis, that is about $30 million a year in revenue, which I imagine is pretty good for a country like Uruguay. considering 40% of the US population either smokes pot or has tried it, I imagine that figure could go much higher. And that doesn't include the tourist money |

I am not sure that the government will make $1 per gram. Isn't that the cost per gram not the amount the government collects? I may have read the article wrong but that is the impression I get.
If I were to agree with you. Then we would both be wrong. As of Apr 5, 2015 10:26 pm I have 880 posts. Used to have over 1,000

That will be 3.3 million pot heads and junkies generated, who have never got anything except in their dreams. The purpose of the drug is distort reality, by definition that is an illusion. Illusion is what the con man create to take the victim away from reality. While the victim is away from reality the con man steals the real stuff. That is why junkies have never got anything. But there is much money to made in selling illusions, drugs being only form of them.

I'm convinced Tommy is anti pot because he is afraid it will cut into his profits.

Just take that pesky fact out of the equation and figure 100% profit. And don't consider the fact that people can grow it themselves. Or that people who continue to sell illegally, possibly by selling off the excess that they grow legally but don't use, at half the Gov't price could have any effect on all this revenue the country is about to generate. They won't make much money on it. It's not even one of the reason they cite for doing it. If they decide to turn it into a cash cow they will just drive the market underground again. It would defeat the purpose. |

I am sure one day Slide, when you are not so emotionally distorted, you will be able to argue your case without making such silly personal remarks.

One day when you are not such a hypocrite or have such a vested interest in selling your drug of choice, you'll realize the dangers of alcohol are DRAMATICALLY worse than any post smoking you can do.

Overhead costs on growing marijuana are minimal. And I actually expect them to sell much more than what I pointed out. I thought I was pointing out a pretty low number. I expect it will be much more.

So? Listen. 3.3 million strange women lying in ponds, in some farcical aquatic ceremony, distributing joints to each other, which they have purched for a $1 each, from their junk dealing government, and getting stoned, is still no bases for a system of econonic stability.

It is not Uruguay but "medical marijuana is now a $1.5bn industry. Some estimate that federally legal, recreational marijuana could be worth $110bn."

What are all these patients suffering from, apart from the effects of the drug?
