I am not completely new to magic. I worked with a magician years ago who taught me some tricks and I've always been interested, on one level or another. I have performed simple tricks for people and I like doing stuff for my kids. I have recently been seriously considering getting into it for a side business. I want to entertain children at birthday parties, etc. I am currently learning cups and balls from Michael Amar's videos. I know sponge balls, at least some basic routines. I know some other impromptu stuff.
I am hoping to get advice from others who may be doing this for a business or otherwise...specifically, entertaining small children. Any DVD's or books you can recommend, as well as any business ideas, would be very welcome. Looking forward to learning here.. Abba Kadabra |

A long-time and well established children's entertainer is Samuel Patrick Smith. You can look his material up on many magic websites as well as Amazon, etc. I have a very old version, copyright 1990 and I believe I saw he has a newer version out under the same name, Big Laughs for Little People. Hope this helps and welcome to The Magic Café.

Welcome Abbakadabra,
Think Color and fun. Cup and balls could be a problem because you never know what angle problems you might run into. Kids can be almost under you. Some Kids will be too little to follow but maybe for older kids. If you decide to go with Cups and Balls, check out Rachel Colombini's routine. No dangerous final loads. I'll see you in "The Little Darlings" -Mary mowder |
