Just saw this on their YouTube channel
http://youtu.be/td1UXb76z2g And here is the description. http://www.sansminds.com/index.php/sm-proshop/prospect.html Imagine introducing a single playing card from your pocket without showing anyone the face of the card. Have the spectator call out any card through a process of their imagination. When your spectator reveals the card they're thinking of, you turn the card over to show that the prediction hits. Works EVERY TIME! It's effortless, fail-proof, and there's no sleight of hand. Anyone else has any info? Looks like an Inferno kind of effect without matchbox maybe |

I messaged Sansmind and asked about equivoke. their reply was
"Sorry we cannot tell you anything regarding the technique or the method of the trick. You will just have to find out from the DVD." Kind of ridiculous, James

Are you kidding me? This is nothing more than the old classic magician choice. $38 dollars to learn the magician choice. Lol

From the demo video, it just appears to be the original simple equivoque... I cannot see where or how any 'gimmick' is used... Maybe the gimmick in which the $38 price tag is justified complicates the routine rather than simplifies it..

No gimmick needed. He is clearly using the equivoque method, also known as the magicians choice. I have been using the same method with cards for years. I have used the method in several different ways, including the exact same way in the demo.

If sansmind just release a product with that principle it will be too stupid.
I doubt at least they will do something on the card like inferno did but in more clean way. So the out is covered. |

Sans minds remind me of jay sankey pf past. They release a ton of stuff with around a one in five hit rate. When they get it right, its great. When they miss, its diabolical.

I think it is more than equivoke. The card probably has multiple outs. Pretty hard to equivoke to one card without being obvious. I really like iForce and the card outs from Greg Rostami's Penguin lecture.

Inferno has a much better plot and presentation. I'll stilck with that.

I' ve done this very same thing using the magician choice. Where does it say it uses a gimmick? I didn't see that in the ad description.
Red or black. Black? Okay that leaves the red cards. Diamonds or hearts? Diamonds? Okay, you have the face cards 10 to king and you have ace to nine, pick one. Ace to nine? Okay, that leaves the face cards, 10, Jack, Queen King, pick two of those. Queen and 10? Okay, now pick either the Queen or 10. The 10? You randomly selected the 10, and randomly choose diamonds, right? You could of choosen any card, but you choose that one. The same card I have been holding in my hands this whole time.

Okay, we will use the black cards. You have Jack to King, and ace to ten, pick one. That leaves the Jack to king, etc. When I use this format, I turn it into a test of our unconscious decisions we make every day. I tell them that they are going to select a card, but they are going to select one using their subconscious mind. To do that, they can't think about the question but reply with the first answer that comes to mind. Usually the first answer that comes to mind comes from our subconscious, once we think about it, it's no longer subconscious but conscious thought. I tell them they need to give quick responses to my questions, and off to the races we go. It all happens so fast that they actually believe that they came up with the card on their own. I have repeated for the spectator numerous times in a row using a different force every time, and have never been busted. I have used the magicians choice method in several ways, and have used it exactly like in the demo. The one in the demo is too long in my opinion, but notice the force card is the King. He has Jack to King and ace to ten. Jack to king is just three cards. The one I prefer performing the most is when I have the spectator shuffle the cards first. Then I give them one last cut, bringing the bottom card secretly to the top and getting them to hold the deck, or have the deck sit on a table. When they have come to their selection, I say," Wouldn't that be amazing if you subconsciously picked the same card as on top of that deck you shuffled. They say yes. I then tell them to slowly flip the top card over. They are left thinking they shuffled the cards, they randomly selected a card, and the card appears at the top of the deck.

I must say I am intregued and suspect they showed the best possible outcome of equivoque. But I can't believe they would sell something as basic like that. Has anyone bit the bullet and bought this to comment. Perhaps it is a very clever version???? or a total crock!

He rates it above Inferno! |

Jeff Said;
I know that this may not be the original idea. The gimmicks that you get certainly aren't and the technique isn't. But the routine in its entirety, despite the fact that I wanted to, is really what you're getting. And it's just simple, direct, and powerful. I can't deny that. So I have to recommend it Yet I do not know what to think. Best Regards |

When the OP quoted the ad copy of the trick, saying that the spec calls out a card "...through the process of their imagination," that's a clue
There are a number of good ways to accomplish similar (if not perhaps, exact). I love what James mentioned before, using iForce. Though when using iForce for effects like this, the #1 spec comment has been, "The phone heard what I said and wrote it on the screen, automatically," so I have them either say it silently (this can actually be very fun if people end up making finger signs to convey the card they are thinking of), or write it down." Not what I would have guessed, but we've got to work with what we're getting!
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".
