I feel sorry for Bob King in all this .Bob is a real nice guy ,i spoke to him a few times at blackpool convention in the past.Hope Bob gets all the royalties and his effect re-released as mentioned earlier .After reading all these posts and listening to craigs pathectic excuse ,i can only come to the oppininion that the excuse is BS.How can Craig now give reviews anymore now after this debacle ?? Sorry but I won't be buying from them anymore .
I cannot understand how some on this thead are so gullable to even believe Craigs BS story. This was a blatant ripp off to Bob king,he knew this and thought he would get away with it but the magic bunny post came back to haunt him !!! Shame on you Craig Petty.Won't be long before he emerges with some other excuse or pulls a mysterious figure out of the woodwork to say they posted on the magic bunny and take the wrap for Craig!!! Shaun
If you put the time in....you will achieve ...

Craig made his apology . He stated he messed up. The WMS is going to give Mr. King money for an effect that has run its course along time ago. I am sure Craig feels terrible about what happened but life goes on and he will be fine. I will continue to watch the WPR each week because it is great. I am sure that all you will watch it also. You know you will. Admit it.
Kyle, your show is good too my friend. |

If he rarely did gaffed deck tricks, he may not have used it much...may have been at the top of the heap in that particular category. All speculation, of course.

Hi
Thanks for that Ian. I actually do not answer to people talking like this, because it is not worth the effort. They seem to have lost categories of basic human thinking. An opinion can not have a status, it can be shared by others or not. Every ones opinion is bound to be subjective. So if he rate or evaluate my opinion, it is nothing else than another subjective act. There is no way, that my opinion could count less than another. Mike has been on another detective tour, thanks for that. Does it really matter what I said before? Yes I said he should confront Craig Petty, and I am sure he did. But that is only the first, emotional reaction to a matter like that, then second, you should start thinking rational after the emotional part. The problem no is, that 80% of the people here are still emotional, and will never get aut of it, because because they never learned that……. I am sure I forgot something, but I'll get back to you Best regards Quote:

Hi Insight
Thank you for your comment. I do not believe that Craig did that. For me that wish doesn't matter in this discussion. Regards Quote:

I find the arguement that he completely forgot one of his favorite tricks from eight years before to be absurd. That is my opinion and even though it could be stated that it is speculation, I believe there are some facts to support it. Whereas, I find the "he wouldn't have possibly have tried to do that because he would have known better" to be complete speculation. And I gave an example from magic history that shows that such stupid things do happen. If you go back and read one of my earlier posts you would see where I would prefer to see this thread go - I doubt it will though. The underlying issue is ethics in the magic community and that most are only interested when it involves them or when it involves a big name. The community doesn't really try that hard to create and maintain a high standard of ethics. Perhaps Petty is getting it with both barrels as a result of his rants that he made using his platform - rants over situations where he knew even less than what we know about RED/NWP. I think many consider him to be a hypocrite. When it first came to light that RED was the same as NWP, I thought, oh great, another case of "I didn't know" and, as these defences are accepted by so many, it would be a matter of no proof to show that the previous effect was known by Petty - no harm, no foul. Bare in mind that I have read about David Penn's experience with this type of issue with regard to Refraction - I'm not sure if you know the details of this issue, but basically it involved bringing to market an effect without credits and then lying about it, getting caught and then backpeddling to make everything OK. So do I find it a stretch of the imagination that Petty would bring out an effect that was not his and then fall back on the "I didn't know, it was independent creation" approach if anyone said anything? No, I don't think it is a stretch of the imagination. Yes, it is possible to come out looking bad, but worst case would be claiming "independent creation" and working out a deal with Bob King. Afterall what proof could there be? The thread on the Magic Bunny was a game changer. A simple defence of "I didn't know" and "independent creation" was now out the window and now damage control was a lot harder and would take more time to figure out. It would be impossible to come out looking clean. No, I don't see why this issue should be set aside and everyone focus on Justin Miller's costumer service (of which I have no experience, so that would be pure speculation for me). They would both be part of a greater issue - ethics in magic. We can ignore it for as long as we want, but the issue won't go away. I don't want to be sold knock-off goods from China. I don't want to buy a product from a dealer and be treated poorly when there is problem. I don't want to be lied to as a marketing stategy. I don't want creators to stop creating because their products are being stolen by others. These are all a part of a central issue and I don't see why I should have to accept one and not the other. I don't see why I'm "playing detective" because I'm capable of making basic observations (that can be quite helpful at times). Being able to spot contradictions is hardly a negative thing. And neither is having a functional BS detector. Good luck with your approach. I personally see it as putting your head in the sand and hoping it all goes away - I could be wrong, it is only my opinion. As for me, I would rather see if the topic can be moved towards ethics and long term solutions. |

Shall we make a list of great magicians who have either never published, or stopped publishing, due to exactly this sort of scenario? Here are three to start us off:
1) Ricky Jay 2) Jerry Sadowitz 3) Gary Kurtz David Berglas also deserves a mention; two books in over 60 years.... |

I see you point (the feds). But ethics starts really small, like with not systematically try to embarrass someone, talking nice with eachother…….an so one. This is definitely a big issue, but in the case of petty we just do not know yet for sure. And I am with you about discussing ethical matters, we need to do that.
I have a really good example: Rhines Revenge brought out by Alakazam some months ago. This was a total money maker and just cheap. And this Rasmus Guy just ****es me off, come on. An opinion count less than an other. That's child talk, and for an adult a huge lack of intellectual thought. Good night |

Oh dear me. I think some people need to take a close look at New Wave Prediction. It is highly procedural, using mathematics and a specific stack. It actually requires one to learn it. It's not Brain Wave, or ID. Go look.
