I think you're in the wrong forum. This forum is for either arguing over the technical skills or bashing the customer service aspects of well known gaff makers.
(I'd offer some help but I don't have the routine) |

The first sequence shuttles the 2 coins from LH FP to RH FP. From RH FP you will produce the first coin. Assuming that's where you want to keep noise to a minimum. My handling of that bit is the following: As your RH turns palm down and to reach out and produce a coin, allow a single coin to fall from FP and rest on your thumb just before you produce it. This prevents and noise from sliding coins over each other. It's a subtle knack rather than a move I'd say. You just need a bit of air between the coins and no noise will be made whatsoever. When I do it I'm not thinking ok only release one coin (which is very difficult from FP), but more that I'm releasing the grip enough that the thumb gentle nudges one coin up and towards the outside edge of your index finger rather than towards your fingertips. Hope that helps.

What part are you having trouble with? By "first sleight," I assume you mean the transfer between hands at the beginning to show them both empty?
If so, I have two advices (other than simply "practice more" - because these moves are difficult, and most of the difficulty lies in doing it silently.) 1) Make sure you handle them by the edges. Coins talk when faces interact. ANY pressure to the faces will cause noise. Handle them exclusively by the edges and you will find they behave much better. In this scenario, that means being exquisitely sensitive of positioning in your hand and the quirks of how you personally do the sleight. 2) A trick from I learned from the Levent Miser's dream DVD is to make your own gaffs that are quiet. PM me if you want the method... |
