I once owned an Van Dokkum Ike dollar/[ set and the edges looked great! This one makes no sense! I too am baffled as to how these made it past QC. . .

Interesting - I've never read anything negative before about his milling. I seem to have gotten lucky! haha

Perhaps AVD allowed an assistant/apprentice to do the work, and it got mailed out before the work was checked.

That (or similar) would be odd, but this is a very odd situation.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

I do believe he will correct this problem.
I have talked to him by e-mail.And he seem's
very sincere in his work.

Here is another example of Van dokkums work.
The bottom picture shows a comparison of three remilled coins.

That sucks man!
Clearly!!!
I have a bad experience with Auke Van Dokkum too...
If you want to try the bestcustomers in Europe, and I know what I'm talking about, contact Xavier Belmont (for the expanded shells,flippers,csb...)
If you want unexpanded shells, contact Magikoins.
By far the best customers in Europe.
Same quality of Lassen;Schoolcraft and better that all the others (VDK,Kueppers...)

I bought a set of Chinese coins with shell and flipper from him at Magic Live and they are perfect.

Sorry about this mess....

I also purchased the shell set and flipper at Magic Live. They are fantastic and the shell fit is excellent. My buddy sent me a link from SEO magic selling what looks like the same set. Anyone know if they are indeed the same coins?

Auke emailed asking me to send the coins to Stevens Magic in Wichita - from there they will ship to Netherlands and he offered to fix. He mentioned that he has some personal troubles going on. Not sure I even want to send it back - wondering if it can be fixed without damaging the coins any further.

He likely has coins (either on hand or readily obtainable) he can use to make things right.

Good luck.
