He mentioned that he has some personal troubles going on As do we all, from time to time. Here's hoping that things sort themselves out for Auke in 2014 (and that you get your coins back in usable condition!). I agree with Todd, though. The C/S and ] won't do you much good the way they are now - just expensive clutter in your magic drawer. I hope Chess is right and he uses new coins. I don't think the problem can be solved by grinding a bit off the edge, but I could be wrong. Please let us know what you receive back. |

I bought the Auke Chinese set with shell and the flipper from Stevens Magic. Both sets are excellent, pretty, and work well. It would seem Auke's work is inconsistent and/or you bore the brunt of a very bad day in Auke's shop.
On a semi-different note: I just got the stainless steel version of the Tommy Wonder 2 cup set plus bag/pompom/balls made by Auke and it everything is just fantastic. Have not heard of any cup issues, so maybe it's just the coins? Good luck! TR |

Actually no! Radio silence. I emailed just now to check up - its been quite a while! I sent them back through Stevens, who confirmed getting them and sending them off to Auke... Then nothing.

Woot - 5 months later I just got my coins back from Auke. Copper / Silver has been fixed (aligned), shell STILL has no shim. Not much to do about the milling unfortunately - so basically just trashed 6 perfectly good Morgans into a pretty amateur coin set.

Today I've bought a Morgan shell set from Auke. I don't know what went wrong but my set is fabulous. Great fit and beautiful coins. I hope you can solve your problems with Auke. He really is passionate about magic and his products.

I also bought a chinese coin. They have the same milling as all the other coins from Auke. The milling is not the same as with a standard original Morgan but you get a really good grip. Here in Holland people seldom see a Morgan dollar so it really doesn't care.
Right know I have two sets. The one from Auke (4 soft and [ ) and four standard coins from a collector (i use these for the tougher work). Below you will find two pics of the set I've bought last weekend (resized because of limitations of upload). I know Auke is very busy, but he really is a nice guy and I advise Lithyem to keep in touch with Auke. Maybe give him a call... |
