Years ago, Harry Anderson did a special on T.V., in which he performed a fabulous routine multiplying money routine. It used a himber wallet. Does any body know the name of the routine and if it's published and where? In the end as I recall, he had a hand full of hundred dollar bills. ![]()

It sounds like a variation of "Polaroid Money." This is a bill-printing routine usually done with a Himber Wallet. You start with blank paper, and one at a time print dollars (or whatever you use for the trick.)
It's an older trick that seems to have fallen out of favor. Usually there's a routine sold with a Himber Wallet; there are some books that give a version of the routine (but I haven't seen one in years.) A search of Hank Lee's turned up "Polaroid Money Outdone" which is a version of the trick without the wallet. I'd check with the big dealers and ask them what's available. Jeff |

There are a number of versions in the L & L book: "The Himber Wallet Book" (written by my good friend Harry Lorayne). It also contains a wonderful and thoroughly deceptive Himber Wallet idea by Doug Edwards that uses a commonly found object in restaurants and stores as the HW.
A great book that has been overlooked. I should note that the Doug Edwards creation allows for a natural topicality in presentation that eliminates any suspicion of "trick wallets" and provides a natural hook. |

As I mentioned in another forum topic, I have and perform Polaroid Money Outdone. It is an astonishing effect that uses the Elmsley count in a brilliant way, and I have been performing it for years. But I still like the Harry Anderson routine, and for variety, I wanted to add it to my performance. That is why I asked.

I'm pretty sure the Harry Anderson item is a version of the Himber Polaroid Money Routine. I knew Harry back in 1976-1977 in San Francisco, and he was doing it then! There are many versions, but in all my years in magic the best, presentationally and otherwise, has to be Ron Bauer's "Xerox Money". It is available at http://www.thinklikeaconjurer.com. Check it out!
Best, PSC P.S. - it combines the Himber routine's basic structure with another Himber gaff (provided with the trick!) and RB's always superb presentation and performance script - don't miss ths, it's a "worker"...

I really like RB's material, he has some good stuff. (Both his own, and that which he has acquired and combined with his own through the years.)
But his "scripts" for his series IMO only suit a teenager as they stand. Allot of the lines IMO are either a bit off color, or make the performer out to have the attitude of "look at me, I'm so smart". Again, I like his stuff, but the pattered routines aren't my cup of tea. MM

Mr. Muggle,
No offense, but you’re missing the subtext of the Private Studies Scripts. You shouldn’t be delivering the lines with a “look at me, I’m so smart” subtext. If you follow the subtext recommendations in the RB comments you’ll find these scripts play stronger the more sophisticated the audience. (They’re designed that way.) Best Regards, Tom

Tom,
No offense taken. Hopefully this post won't be another spark in the powder house. (I see your signature is one of RB's web sites) I've read the subtext and after presenting them in that way I don't deliver the lines in that fashion, its simply not ME. (BTW I have the series.) It all comes down to personal preference. Guess some other readers don't agree with my post either. Evidently some members emailed RB & he PM'd me with some great insight regarding his Private Studies Scripts. I thanked Ron in return, but they still aren't my cup of tea as they are written. Does that mean they are no good? NO, I did what everyone should do with their magic, and changed it to suit MY performance style. If we don't do that with magic, we will have thousands of Larry Jennings & Ron Bauers running around. (Not that it would be a bad thing, just IMO boring having no original personalities, just carbon copies.) Although this isn't a thread on the scripts, I will just add that I think some peoples line of thought with the performance scripts is reverse thinking when compared to everything else in magic. Everyone says 'find yourself, be original', here everyone keeps telling me to 'forget myself, follow the script'- go figure. Anyhow, no offense taken, hope its that way for everyone else. My post was just MY opinion on an opinion board, (and I don't perform with a look at me style either) it wasn't designed to trash RB's stuff in any way. I could list things I like about them, but I didn't post a review. We will have to agree to disagree on this one. MM

He performed this routine on TRICK OF HIS TRADE and at an interview with bob costas on LATER ON.
The second, one was a variation where he said the money is volatile and he rubbed it on his jacket and changed the color of the bill to a plaid! Ellen harryandersonfan.com |

Greetings Doug; Check out Buffalo Bill starting on page 143 of Harry Andersons' book Wise Guy written by Mike Caveney. This came out in 1993 and should still be around. I don't remember the finish with a stack of bills, but it was the comedy routine with borrowed money, cuffs, and a lot of comedy that he performed with a himber wallet on TV. It may be what you were referring to?

The routine in his book is called buffulo bill...The routine is very strong. I have performed in every show for the last year and a half. I have added it to my pickpocketing routine...what a way to get 3 volunteers....It is probably my favorite routine that is in the book....
