Gaetan Bloom's Linking Pins DVD (incl. Props) is listed in the new arrivals in several magic stores. Unfortunateley there are no user reviews available yet. Can anyone give a review?

This was released by Jeff Busby way back in the 1970's. It is a version of the Slydini Linking Safety Pins. It is just a personal choice as the routine is a little short when compared to Jerry Andrus's Linking Safety Pins routine. There is a switching of the pins required in Gaetan Bloom's routine as he uses the Slydini Pin design. No matter which you chose, it fun routine to present and very magical.

I purchased Gaetan's Pin routine back in the 80's(?). The thing that made it unique was that you didn't have to switch out the Pins at the end. In my set he didn't use Slydini's Pin design, pretty neat concept.

Just to be clear... Dan garret's routine 'Pin Demonium' (I think it's the name!)is probably one of the best. And it is done with non-gimmicked pins (meaning no switch at all). I did that often when I was working restaurants.

As for the pins, you can find them, most of the time in drugstores. No need to buy a DVD to have a set (of course, if the pins are gimmicked your magic dealer is the best place to go!)

Jerry Andrus have a wonderful routine too (see DVD from L&L I think).

I saw the Bloom's routine and I really think there are other routines available better than that! Look for Slydini, Andrus and Garret. Andrus produce a nice little notes-book with a lot of techniques. Do a search and you'll see by yourself. As I consider myself a fan of the linking pins routines, I would advise anyone to try to got routine from other sources before the one from Bloom! (with all due respect for what he does 'cause he is a great performer and inventor!)

Hey folks,
Just wanted to drop in and post a quick overview of my thoughts.
I picked this up, as I had been meaning to invest in a set of Slydini Pins for quite some time. The ability to end totally clean really appealed to me. I was very happy with this purchase. Elegantly simple. The routine makes it very easy to steal away the sneaky little gimmick, and you are truly able to immediately hand the pins out for examination if you wish.

As taiga mentioned, the routine that is supplied isn't particularly amazing. Link, unlink, link, unlink, look they are definitely linked, bam, now they're not. I see no reason why the included pins cannot be utilised in some other routine.

For anyone interested, I've shared my thoughts in more depth over at my blog at

I experienced a bit of trouble learning this routine from the Bloom DVD. Lots of shots of Bloom waving the pins around and the translator attempting to keep up.
