Marion and David, I haven't by any means seen all the washes out there, and great if they work for you. Not every move works for every person, based on their style. Just a good old difference of opinion here. David, I am looking forward to your book!

And Yea The Timing of WHEN Is REAL important! I have seen Way to many Done sooo Badly By Doing them at the wrong Time!!! Or by Saying to much About it Even just with just your Body Language! Smile So if you are Wanting to show your hands Empty That's the wrong time to do it! If you know what I an talking About! Smile

Bob Kohler has one that is more of a quick clean up rather than a full hand washing. It comes cnvincingly after a Spider Grip Vanish from the right hand. The right thumb comes onto the heel of the left palm and slides from the heel of the palm to the left middle finger tip (coin still classic palmed in right hand) Then both hands turn palm down spreading the fingers for a split second before getting back in rest position. The suspicion on the left hand following the Spider Grip Vanish can be used as a justification for this clean up.
Even then I think that David Neighbors' advice are essential.

Otherwise I agree with Michael Rubinstein and Lawrens Godon.

Yea and The wrong Time To try A hand Wash Is When some one says " Hay let me see your Hands? " Most of the time that is because You have done Some thing Wrong To begin With! SOOO No amount Of Hand washing Is Going to show Them That your Hands are Empty !

So I think that with Any hand to hand transfer The Same thing That Erdnase said about Palming should fit here! On Pg. 83 he said that it must be palmed is such a way that even the most critical observer would not even suspect, let alone detect the action ! He said it about palming cards but it fits with palming coins, and doing transfers! Smile

Great palming and singing the birthday song while I am magically washing
My hands , may not be great audience responses to my coin routine.

Hey thanks for the mention here, Jim. Smile My "Clean Hands" work is definitely along the same lines here, though a little different way to skin a cat. Smile I actually use the method quite often after a vanish sequence and or to cleverly move a coin from hand to hand. Works like Novocaine! Smile

I totally agree with MB and David, it's a move for the denouement. The relaxed moment before or after an effect.

I would never do it directly after a vanish.

I like the one called "Coin Vanish - Handwash Sequence" by Jerry Mentzer on page 174 of his book, "Close-up File." One move in the sequence strikes me as something of a precursor to the Shoot/Harbottle/Kam push-through change-overs they do from EG.

Admittedly, I only use it for fun, as a puzzle or a display of sleight-of-hand for friends and viewers unavailable to astonishment. The sequence uses Goshman pinch and, as a result, is restricted to much tighter angles than Troy Hooser's (the one I use for paying eyes).

Transfers and acquitments have their place.

Doing an impression of an OCD sufferer seems unproductive.
