Can't help but to wonder lately what are the latest coin sleights that are published? I have a very limited knowledge and for me I'd guess it's Harada Hold?
I'm referring to sleights/techniques in general so not just palms, i.e. could be a transfer, or a vanish technique. Would be good to see people chiming in! Kened |

Hi,
You could be interested in the dynamic back thumb palm I published in Moneypulation Vol.1. It's based on an very old sleight, with a lot of visual impact. Cheers ! |

Thanks Lawrens, I didn't purchase your DVD but I enjoy your performances a lot. I don't quite see dynamic back thumb palm's difference compared to a normal back thumb palm?
Michael, when was Stealth palm published formally? |

Stealth palm first appeared in print in Magic magazine in Feb 2009, and is on the New York Coin Magic Seminar DVD series. You can access the article by going to our website, http://www.newyorkcoinmagic.net , and clicking on the Seminar Photos button on the left of the page. Then click where it says Click here, and you can see the article with the first written description of stealth Palm, and some applications. Its a great concealment where you can show both hands palm up, yet conceal several coins.
I should mention that on the NYCMS DVD series there are many new moves scattered throughout the series that you may not have seen before. New click passes, turnover moves, spellbound moves (see the wave change thread elsewhere in this section) a new purse palm concealment, some deep back clip stuff, and much, much more.

-The Quick Pitch -The Crimp Change - The MBRS, ("MB Ring Steal" used in a coin effect) -The Back Clip Slip -The Blow Change -Clean Hands -Liwag Subtlety …and perhaps a few others.
And not to leave out "techniques," like the one I use here...

Oh wow. I mean, I watch a lot of coin magic on YouTube and never have I got an idea there are so many techniques I haven't heard of. What's a man to do if he ain't got no money to buy all those magazine subscriptions, books or DVDs... but I'll start with a few cheaper ones (and free) stated above anyhow.
Cheers my friends! Kened |

And just so anyone is interested, I asked specifically about techniques because I simply find practising sleight very meditative; and learning new things excite me.

Wow. MB - that's one of the best things I've seen you do on these pages - and I've seen you do a bunch of impressive stuff.
Bravo. Feel free to PM me if you feel like sharing/teaching/etc... By the way, I can't see what type of coin you are using. Is that a Morgan? |

Lawrence O's Six Legs Spider (the only Spider grip vanish with In Transit hand change)
Lawrence O's time load (open handed distant variant of the L'homme Masque Load) Lawrence O's False Take (very distant and more "close up" variant of the French Drop and/or Ramsay Vanish) There are other but I only devlop sleights for movements to blend in a routine, rather than to "create a new" sleight PS check and work on Marion's sleights, they're just great and he is as superb a performer as he is a precious person.

Lawrence O,
Your sleight are interesting (or seems because I don't know them). As you said, they are developed to blend in a routine. But have you some of them (sleigts or routine) in prints? I think the first one can be found in the topic " What makes a false transfer credible ? ". Am I right? Can we have a description of the others? When I started doing magic about 25 years ago (I had only the 2 J. Delord 's first books of his trilogy), I created a distant "L'homme Masque Load" without being aware of the "L'homme Masque Load". The left hand was palm up but closed. The coin (in palming position in the right hand) was thrown into the left hand in the action of making a pass above the left hand. It was very effective at the time (I'm still doing it but not very often). How is your variant? |

You're right. The Six Legs Spider appears in the thread " What makes a false transfer credible ? ", here in the café The False Take works as follows and can be more easily understood if having read " What makes a false transfer credible ? " Initially the coin is naturally held by the thumb against the tip of the right fingers. This hand is more or less palm up with its fingers pointing at 10/11:00 (whatever is the most natural rest position). Now, allegedly to look at the other side of the coin as you make a comment on it, the right hand rotate palm down as the right elbow moves slightly up. Pause as you make a brief comment on the coin as your gaze gets at the audience. Now, two things happen at the same time. The gaze starts initiating an In Transit Action announcing by a glance a coming move and the need to trasfer the coin to the other hand "TO BE ABLE TO" do that move. The hands start getting towards one another. The right elbow goes back down as the right hand rotates palm up and the right thumb pulls the coin back over the right fingers; as the right hand initiated its down move, the left elbow moves up for the left hand to move up and PALM DOWN from rest position for its (left) fingers to rest on the coin now laying on the right fingers (naturally to achieve this the right thumb had ultimately to give way, relaxing up about half an inch above the extended left fingers). Still with the gaze on the left sleeve and without any stop, both hands with their extended fingers rotate palm towards the performer's chest, the left fingers having seemingly taken the coin which remains laying on the right fingers. The right hand moves up to tug the left sleeve (or take the wand or do whatever move announced by the glance), finger palming the coin along the way. Then look at the face of the coin(?) in the left fingers, cause the magic as you create the magical moment. Pause for suspense as the right hand points up asking for a second while you look at the audience... and reveal the vanish in the least arrogant or challenging way that you can express.

I used to spend hours practicing the cp2cp, db2db and eg2eg switches.
After that using HPC as production half of a switch became more natural.
