After the coins have traveled, In your opinion is it better to:
1) Display the coins in the palms of each hand? 2) On the table? 3) Both ways / Combination? 4) Other? What do you think is most effective?

Depends On The Routine! I have like 65-70 Routines! And I use all of them!

David, Could you please give a few examples? Or references to your material? As you know, I own all your manuscripts.
![]() Maybe references to 4 or 5? 25? Not necessarily 60 or more. ![]() Do you have a PHILOSOPHY of when to use certain displays?

Is there some reason they can't see at a glance how many coins are in each location?
...to all the coins I've dropped here

I would have to look trou And Make a list!
![]() It depends On where you want to pull heat! It you have a shell in the sending hand and real coins in the outer I would show The sending hand first! If you have a real coins in the sending hand and a shell in the Outer I would show the outer hand first! Now if both hands have real coins But say your holding out Extra Coins In the hand that they are coming too I would show it first! And If You are doing A P.D.Q. Type of Routine Where the Sending is closed trou out the Routine Then You Have to show The Hand they are coming into! |

This is an objective question with a generally subjective "answer". lol. In all but the largest spectator crowds it is best to adjust your reveals, discovery, etc. according to the attention of your audience. If you can develop a dynamic theory of how your current audience is following your routine, you can create a much greater effect by adjusting where and how you reveal your magic in terms of your display holds and positions.
(This is definitely not a novel idea, nevertheless...) I call it "5 eyes"; because In most crowds there will typically be 5 spectators close enough to monitor their attention and perform to the audience by proxy. If they seem to be a step ahead of me I will reveal the *second and *last transposition in fingertip 3-fly style; to cause a pattern break without the impression of an acquitment... ...On the other hand, if the spectator/s are keeping pace, or even a step behind, I will add a simple bluff and a quick open palm display before the final transposition to slow the pace for an "innocent" moment of anticipation. This of course gives a second to strengthen the resolve of the wise-guy(there's always one, lol) and any final "dirty work" to allow a clean final transposition. Finally, the last revelation is in a nice open palm display to frame the coins sitting in open hands to isolate them in that moment of quiet profundity with no room for argument. Finally, the entire audience(big or small) catches the discovery at the same time, without time to think for the quick, a fair experience for the slow thinker, and 2 clean hands to *unleash the moment*(thank you Paul Harris!) with no further action necessary. So instead of reducing your style of display to a single aesthetic or technical choice you can enhance an effect by experimenting with the pros/cons of each technique and using them as a compliment to each aspect of a performance |
