Hey Guys and gals,

I don't post much but have been around for years, quick question. I recently made myself a board and am quite pleased with it so far it needs some ageing but that is it. In fact I am pleased enough that I may consider making a few more and selling them off.

The question I have is: How many would be interested in a solid wood (no ply or MDF) hand made board with planchette? What would you be willing to pay for such a board?

Once my board is complete and aged I will post some pics.

Pics and size dimensions would help in order to better determine price range. Since you are making them, are you doing them single-sided or double-sided (e.g., pendulum board or another type on reverse)? Will you be using a wood burner or stencils, etc.? Are we talking about a harder or more exotic wood or pine?

Sounds interesting!

Hi David
All good questions, mine is made of pine, Never thought about the double side but that would be quite possible with how they are made and what a person wanted.

Burner or stencil! That is a secret (and no not a sticker either). Right now my board looks like the picture needs some work yet to be right but it isn't horrible.

Indeed there is no M. Back to the drawing board. There will be an M on the next one.

Looks good, a fault imo with most boards is that they are too small. As you are offering any size I think there will be a lot of interest

That is indeed the question Michael. I am not sure as of yet I have to figure out my cost.

Depending on the pricing I'd be interested too.

I think I'm a Spirit Board addict. A large (15" x 20") Spirit Board with a pendulum board on the back side would be teriffic! Jesse, how willing are you to do custom work? For instance, custom artwork adorning the letters?

Yitzhak,I had a (15&1/2 X 21&1/2) custom board made.(She,is pretty big!)
Make an extra large Planchette to go with the board!
You can use with four participants, and the slide will not have to be so far, with the larger Planchette.
Also, the board must be extra slick, for movement!

Thanks for the info, Gary. That's exactly what I want; a board for 4-6 sitters! I have one that is 22 x 16", but it is too 'witchy' for my character. It is important for me to have 'authentic' props (that is, authentic to, and consistant with, my character).

I know I've told this story before, but it seems like a good time to interject it...

When I purchased my first spirit board, my wife interjected, "You aren't bringing that thing in the house until you check ALL the mazuzahs to make sure nothing uninvited gets in". So, for Shalom B'biet, I complied. A couple weeks went by and the board arrived at our doorstep. I brought it in the house, carefully unpacked it, and showed it off to my wife who affirmed it was spooky, but safe enough. The next day, the mazuzah for the front door, which has been firmly affixed for 12 years, was lying on the ground.
