Well, there are a million effects and variations that you can do with 4 coins, or three coins, or coins and props. What do you want to do? The easiest thing I can mention is to do a Three Fly using an extra coin. There are a million of those as well, and if you do a search you will find several sources, including my own. For Bobo, you just have to read through the book and find what you like! Welcome to the Café, and good luck!

Fabian, if you don't mind me asking, how old are you? Just asking but it might help here to know in what direction to better send you. You have already been given some good guidance by some accomplished and knowledgeable coin practitioners, that you just might not be aware of.

What I use is a 4 coin production followed by a 4 coins across. 90% of the moves are from Bobo's.
My production is the 1-to-4 production from Bobo's, except I've added in a JW grip production for the 1st coin so they are all produced. I've also changed a few little things, like stealing the last coin in the same way as coin-to-key (from Bobo's also!). My coins across is basically the trick "three and three" combined with stuff from Michael Ammar's Introduction to Coin Magic, so it is a utitlity switch, friction palm, click pass and then the vanish "Gone" (you guessed it, from Bobo's again!), which is a steal move (I think it is also described as the Bobo steal on the Ammar dvd) and thus a lot more deceptive. I also throw in a goshman pinch at the start etc. and make sure I finish in their hands for a great conclusion. Both routines started off very simple, and I've gradually made them better and better by adding more and more stuff. I've got a good presentation for both and its one of my favourite openers. I like the routines all the more because they are my own. Use it if you like, but choose the moves that you like and gradually make it your own. Only you can decide what you like by trying lots of stuff out. JT is spot on. If you're really after a matrix, the original Al Schneider one is great and only uses 4. If you really want to use dollar coins, a 3-fly may be more appropriate, and I'd recommend Mb's Flyski for a not too difficult handling. I'm still adapting it to fit my style as every routine fits the performer who creates it the best. So just try stuff, see what works and have fun! |

The coin effect I perform more than any other is Boomerang Coins from my coin book. It uses four silver dollars (or any 4 ungaffed coins) and can be performed under almost any condition including surrounded.

Hi Fabian99
Just looked at new arrivals and read that you are 14 years old. As you have already started on an exciting journey with Bobo, I would suggest continuing with Bobo's modern coin magic. There are numerous tricks in there that require no gaffs or gimmicks. After that I would suggest that you follow the advice of David Neighbours, Jonathan Townsend, Michael Rubenstein and Mb217 amongst others. I don't know why you want a matrix without cards as a matrix with 2cards/4coins is very strong for lay persons. There is a good explanation of a coin matrix with 2 cards in Classic Secrets of Magic by Bruce Elliot, Chapter 8 called “Two Covers and the Four Objects”. Hope this helps. Enjoy your journey All the best Michael |
