What makes a work of art, is not a craftsman who reproduces an exact replica of his subject but a craftsman whose eye is guided a certain magic. A magic which is nothing more less than illusion. For an artist does not create what is but creates is a distortion of what is. Which makes what is more enchanting than reality. So it is this artist's hope that nothing, which my fellow artist's do, will be perfectly natural. Thus according to this strange theory, one would act, dress, walk, talk do every else rather oddly and strangely. For a start, from this day fourth, it is ordered that, all magicians will develop their own silly walks. If you don't, you are no artist.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

I am not sure the Ministry of Silly Walks (MSW) would approve of any unlicensed and unapproved walks...

I am not. I have a silly walk. It is natural, and not registered.

There is no art in anything unremarkable. It is this artist's hope that all in our art is remarkable. That which we call remarkable is that which has been distorted. There is nothing remarkable about an unbent spoon old boy. Take for example a suit, if one shortens one leg by 6 inches then one has got a remarkable suit. One must think along these lines for arts sake.

But is the art lost when things are made to be remarkable just for the sake of being remarkable? I believe creations need a certain amount of attractiveness AND remarkability to achieve something original, otherwise its just a stupid looking suit.
but, then again, you never know what might attract people... |

What is that which they seek but a world that is more enchanting than reality and is it not remarkable that all that is more enchanting than reality is an illusion of it, which is a distortion of reality and what art but a lie and an illusion? The enchanted world which is more enchanting than reality would be a place which had stupid mirrors and smoke.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eeLwLNvOUCs The point is, ladies and gentleman, that stupid -- for lack of a better word -- is good. Stupid is right. Stupid works. Stupid clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Stupid, in all of its forms -- Stupid for life, for money, for love, knowledge -- has marked the upward surge of mankind. And Stupid -- you mark my words -- will not only save Teldar Paper, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA.

Don't get us involved, tommy. The USA has been out of the manufacturing business for years. We are a marketing and branding service economy. We're all making a great living off that same horse.

Inspiration can be fleeting, which is why the world's best and brightest sometimes resort to bizarre measures to ensure they have it on a regular basis. After all, the idea of the eccentric genius -- whether in the sciences or the arts -- has survived for centuries..
http://www.spiegel.de/international/zeit......230.html http://listverse.com/2009/03/15/10-incre......-people/ Eccentrics are cool! Note to oneself: Get decked out in flamboyant clothing exuding eccentricity. Remove ones glass eye, clean it, put it back in its socket and ask the queen whether it is in straight and say “Let us glaze our asses to the queer old Dean”. Learn to carry ones bag on ones head, obtain a wasp pistol for shooting them as and when they annoy. Offer to pay for things with produce from my garden and stencil my rabbit in a blue and white Chinese willow pattern in order to make it look better. Let's suppose you were high up in social circles and often compelled to give dinner parties. Let's also say you wanted to impress your high-profile friends and reassure them that their good faith and finances were in safe hands. What would you do? How about hiring a dwarf, dressing him up as a clown, and without any explanation having him sit silently underneath the dining table for the duration of the dinner? Art with a capital a as claim to expressive novelty in context is something relatively new in our culture and invites a dialog about language, narrative and the notion of self in society.
Artisans and craftsmen and painters and potters and sculpters etc. are people who work in the arts. That adjudgenent of a work to be capital a art is also a social matter with an associated dialog which includes some contributions by duchamp and some by the schools of Mertz and dada. You can put that in a picture of a smoking pipe and frame it.

What is magic but a disturbance of reality and what does it do but disturb the mind of those who see it and isn't the point of art to disturb? Art is not a true story but a tall story. Which is, no doubt, the point of the tall pointed hat or wearing a black cat or a disturbing dog for all that. http://www.flickr.com/groups/cathats/

The Eccentricity of Johnny Depp is remarkable.
http://www.fanpop.com/clubs/johnny-depps......er-photo The Mad Hatter’s insanely large eyes are one of the first things you’ll notice when “Alice in Wonderland” comes out, but don’t worry: Johnny Depp hasn’t gone Marty Feldman us. Depp got a little help in becoming the Craziest Looking Man Alive from movie wizard Ken Ralston. The overall eye look was part wacky make-up and a pinch of special effects. And the eyes were almost going to be even bigger. http://www.rtvchannel.tv/alice-secret-jo......ed-eyes/ Curiouser and Curiouser said Alice

At the magic moment they live in the realm of no past or future. Hopefully they live in the realm of no past or future throughout the show actually, as they are there for their amusement only and not there to worry about paying their rent. They are there to live in the world which is more enchanting than reality for a while. To really achieve this effect to the full “everything” must be distorted in Wonderland. The door to ones joint shalt be thy rabbit hole. Speaking of joints, now it is legal, can we expect our audience to transform into a more merry band of men than before?
