I think here's the right place to post this! I found the 10 cards spelling trick performed by Wayne Dobson (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1xkMoPGXN0) and I thought that even if it's not that astonishing it's actually quite funny to do. I worked on the 10 cards stack and I found the one used in his video, a normal one for only pure spelling and 3 in french.
What do you guys think of such a trick? |

Sorry, I don't like spelling tricks.
(But I am surely the only one ) In my opinion, you can do much better tricks than spelling tricks with a MD. |

This is NOT using a MD! Only a stack of a few cards, sorted in a certain order.

How about spelling tricks with a shuffled, "un-memorized," deck? HL.

What do you mean Harry? I don't memorize the order of the cards, I just put them in the right order, like many do with greats stacks such as Tamariz' or Aronson's (I personally don't understand why they are doing this, learning a stack is so much than that).

I enjoy performing and get great reactions from spelling tricks with cards. My favorite is in The Magic Book by Harry Lorayne and involves the spectator by spelling their name to find a card.

I use a stacked memorized deck with 2 spelling routines built in. One at the top, and the other at the bottom. I rarely use them, but it is cool when someone cuts my deck and happens to end at either the beginning or the end of either of those packets. *THEN* I do the spelling effect and it blows them away every time. I never plan it - I just wait for an opportunity when the spectator just happens to set it up for me.

Quick question: By spelling tricks, do you mean tricks where a card is found by spelling to its name or any card trick where a card is found after spelling words?
Stewart James has an effect where he asks three questions. The same three questions every time. The spectator spells the answers. Obviously, the effect ends with the card being found. James uses 2 decks and a set-up (including a paper clip) but I have a single deck, no set-up version (borrowed, not complete deck can be used, shuffled, etc.). I used the Stewart James effect as a starting point and it utilizes what I think is the most interesting part of the James effect. Would this be considered a spelling trick? Gracie Morgan has some work on spelling words to find cards as well (published under the name Steven Youell). |
