Does anyone know of wood workers who are turning ball and vases? I know there have been several in the past who are no longer doing so.
Thanks in advance. |

Viking: http://www.vikingmagic.com You could also ask Michael Baker ( http://www.themagiccompany.com ) or Eric Hansen ( http://s290.photobucket.com/user/sleight......3&page=1 ) here on the Café. I don't believe they turn ball vases with sh**lls, but they may be able to steer you in the right direction.

Does anyone perform the Ball Vase? I have only seen it in cheap plastic mass produced for amateurs. It is a great trick.

Look for Eric Hansen, papasmurf is his id at thecafe, he has many and all beautiful. Eric is great person to deal with also.
Here is a link to his page, you can look into the other sections of his photobucket and will find the vases http://s290.photobucket.com/user/sleight......R%20SALE |

Jim Riser has in the past turned out beautiful ball & vases and may still. Years ago he made my custom bottle shaped ball vase which looks and handles beautifully. You can't go wrong with Jim's work.

Angelo Iafrate produced some of the most beautiful ball vases, egg vases and Morrison Pill Boxes that I have ever seen. http://www.majicbrand.com/Site/Welcome.html

"Does anyone perform the Ball Vase? I have only seen it in cheap plastic mass produced for amateurs. It is a great trick." didn't Mike Gallo have a great routine for the ball vase using the cheap little vase which he also later published?

He did, and I don't believe it used a sh**l (please correct me if I'm wrong). I don't turn wood, but from my understanding it's easier to find vases for the Gallo routine as they are not as complicated to make.
Here's an absolutely horribly shot video of his routine: http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S8693 And a better quality video of Brian Cook: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfLxTtf_v-w And another: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TpMOk1rRXQ

I believe it was Marlo who published a great Ball and Vase routine back in the 70's in Genii Magazine.
Tom Stone's was very strong, miracle class, but had to be done sitting at a table. Good lecture and contest material only, though. |

Mike Gallo has done some great work with the ball and vase. The only place I've seen it is one the New York Coin Magic Seminar DVDs.

Here is a turned vase based on the Mike Gallo routine, the Mitch Schneiter's Olive Vase Ensemble. These are turned by Airship Magic.

Stevens Magic is offering these lovely vases in a variety of woods. Not inexpensive, but they look well made.

I have several ball vases, for the Gallo routine, I made some mods to it and use a smurf doll, that has a red bowling ball. Mad jake jr. made it and it is a wonderful prop. I also have 2 sets of the Joe Porper/Doug Gorman stones of tutenkahmen.
