Hello, all! I've been lurking for a few weeks, and this is my first time posting. What do you think is the "best" card to use for a force/key/etc.? Meaning, which is the least conspicuous, the one a spectator is least likely to notice if it comes up a few times? Is this even an issue? Maybe it isn't, but if one wants to make a special key card (s***t/c****r s***t/t***k, etc.) or even if one can choose the force card for a Sv*****i deck, it might make a difference.
I was thinking a black card and specifically a club; it seems less conspicuous to me than a spade--probably due to the unique status of the Ace of Spades with its big, fancy pip. Additionally, I was considering one with more pips rather than fewer so they can't be counted at a glance. An 8 or a 9? Best, Michael P.S.: Do I need to *** "force" and "key"? |

I used the 4 of clubs when I had my Koran deck.

I'd second the four. (pun intended) Seems like a good, inconspicuous suspect.

I usually mix it up and end up with a different card everyday (in close up, you can pass off just about anything but the aces).
But, Penn and Teller once explained why they always use the three of clubs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcDSiX-W......a_player if the whole count at a glance is undesirable to you, you can also try the seven of clubs, it's a large enough number that it's difficult to count, but a magician would quickly notice it because it doesn't rotate perfectly. |

Why would you want to force the same card over and over again? Unless it's an ACR or a demonstration of using a force you shouldn't need to worry about forcing the same card over and over again. But cull force is nice, for card on top

Rather than forcing the same card over and over, this is more for what's a good inconspicuous presentable card, often for gaffs and such. For example, if you were to keep a duplicate card in your wallet which you could use for various tricks, but not immediately after another or with the same audience.

I didn't mean to keep forcing the same card on someone, but if you make/buy a gaff, s***t card, etc., you're stuck with a certain card which will be essentially "forced" (or at least often be on the bottom of the pack and glimpse-able by spectators). Thanks for the replies! Clubs seem to be a popular choice so far. The least flashy of the suits, perhaps? |

Well if you can make gaffs, you can make lots of different gaffs, so you aren't stuck with just one.
If I'm using a key card, I like doing a pa** as the spectator looks at their selected card and have them return it to the "same spot" they got the card. Or if you are afraid of doing a pa**, you could try peeking at the card above their selection, as they look at their selected card. |

It could be any number of spot cards.

If you want to force card go number and black card because it is more visible than picture cards from distance specially 2,3,4,5 and 6.
If you look for key card and you want it less visible go to red cards and any card from 8 and up(including picture cards)
