I remember back in the 70's, it was all the rage on game shows to award trips to Acapulco, Mexico as a grand prize. It was a very popular destination back then, Honeymoon or not, but I haven't heard anything about Acapulco for a quite some time.
Niagra Falls is another place that, as I remember, was a big Honeymoon destination. Seems like the last I heard about Niagra Falls as a Honeymoon destination was in the movie "Superman II"! I know places fall in and out of favor, over time, and there can be lots of factors involved. It just seems these places have kind of fallen off the radar screen.

That's because young people are now choosing exotic wedding locations, forcing friends and family to spend on a major vacation to celebrate the big event.

I thought the etiquette for that was for the bride and groom to pay the airfare and hotel for the guests, no?

I was talking more Honeymoon - where couples go *after* the wedding. Not just Honeymoons, though. Hardly hear about these destinations, anymore. Wonder if the hotels/resorts/surrounding infrastructure has just gone downhill.
It is interesting though, Magnus, about recent (?) development in "location weddings", where people have to travel to heaven knows where just to attend the wedding!

Indeed, I know of / have heard of several destination weddings relatives did not attend because they could not afford to do so.

I wonder how the Poconos are doing? (Isn't that where "Dirty Dancing" was set?)

Dirty Dancing was set in the Catskills in NY and shot in North Carolina.
