Hey guys,
I was checking out the 'Messages' manuscript, and found a utility device that goes by the name 'The Cold Side' over at http://www.jewelpro.com/boo/stuff.html . I can't see any discussion about this on the board, so just wondered if any of you have any views about it or any experiences using it? Thanks & Happy New Year, Simon. |

I have the effect. You can do with it exactly what it states on the website. Create cold spots or make borrowed objects feel ice cold to the touch. I imagine someone doing a proper sceance show will get the most use out of this item.

A sudden drop in tempature, or a feeling of cold is a indication of a ghost manifestating. I agree with FrankStone, this would be used mostly in a seance enviroment. However I also see some Bizarre options, such as a cursed object, or some item becoming cold to the touch while a story involving death could be very effective.

When we say best for Seance does this mean that it is difficult for the walk around performer/dinner part performer to use due to the actual workings of the gaff - I mean is it hard to carry, does it need be hidden within the luxury of a seance set up or is it workable at say a dinner party?
Many Thanks, L. |

Greetings,
Cold Spot is a clever little beast. However, it has a limited duration for which it is useful so controlled performing situations are best. For walk around, be prepared with multiple "cold spot" gimmicks stored appropriately. Docc Hilford has used something similar to create a clammy cold handshake at the end of his Uncle Frink routine. Lastly, if you do carry it in your pocket, put it in a plastic baggy - one of those small ones that trick coins oft are packaged is great. Will take care of most of the condensation issues. Live and learn... Sincerely, Sam Haine

I cann't believe we are spending sooooo much time on something that is found in the 13th steps and has only been updated and can be found in any sports alse. Yes, it is a great Seance effect, spend the few bucks on it and get some good advice on how to use it.
