That being said, the message that Jesus taught was one of love and forgiveness. "The Bible was written by man, not by God"
I beg to differ, and so do the words of the Bible themselves: 2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: or ESV All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, The same breath God breathed into man, He breathed into the Scriptures. That is what makes the Bible Holy. Either the Bible was "breathed out" by God, or the Bible is wrong. I for one believe the former.

The Apostles were eye witnessess to what Jesus did and said. Their interpretation is accurate and not open to our own personal or private interpretation of the events, or what we personally think they meant by what they said. They make it very clear what they mean, and one who is in Spirit will have the veil lifted from their eyes to see the truth. Yes, you can believe whatever you want, and even twist scriptures to suit your life, but God has given us the written word to know better. And the Holy Spirit to guide us.

In reference to The Bible being written by men: Those men who wrote Holy Scripture were used as instruments to accomplish the writing. Saying the Bible was written "by" them is akin to saying this post was written by a keyboard. While it is true that a keyboard was the physical instrument chosen to place these words on the screen, the thoughts, and ideas came from the author...not the keyboard. The writers of scripture were "slightly" more than keyboards; in that God was able to accomplish His perfect control over the content, inerrancy and infallibility of what they wrote, while still allowing their personalities to come through! What a loving, thoughtful and sovereign God we serve!
WHAT IF you wake up tomorrow with ONLY the things that you THANK GOD for today?

However, the main point that I was making is that the Bible was written by man and woman, and not by God. Whether parts of it were inspired by God and channeled through man, is a subject for debate, and depends very much on the belief and interpretation of the individual. In my own belief, I see God as pure love and light, and one that can do no harm. I see God as the source of all that is good. I therefore do not see an angry God, or a judgemental God, but only a loving God. Jesus was the human manifestation of God on earth, and was also pure love and light. If I was to present a Gospel show, this would be the foremost message I would give to my audience. It was the most important message of Jesus IMHO. I would not give them a message of fear, but a message of hope. Some call it Christ Conciousness. It is inspiring others to live a life of love, kindness, and compassion.....just like Jesus did. It is living a life free of anger and guilt. It is a life of Joy, Peace, Forgiveness and Abundance. I try to live this life every day, and I feel very blessed to have made a living as a magician for nearly all my life. Jesus said "The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!" I agree. It is right here and now. I truly feel I am living in heaven, and that is my interpretation of this biblical quote. JR |

I believe that I have much to offer magicians and other entertainers by encouraging them to connect with spirit. This work has taken me many years to complete, and I am hopeful that it will have a profound effect on my readers. I am not attempting to evangelize in the book....far from it. I am not a fan of trying to convert people from their beliefs, and that is why I respect everyone on this forum, whether they be fundamentalist Christians or Atheists. It is up to the reader to make up their own minds as to whether the spiritual principles in the book ring true. This is a 100% positive book, which will hopefully make you think. I truly think that Jesus would approve of the content! JR |

Scores and scores of books have been written on this very subject and the evidence in support of this claim is indisputable. They were written in Greek, a language that none of the Apostles could speak, let alone write. The first gospel was written 30 to 50 years after the death of Christ long past the lifespan of your average first century inhabitant. Much of the evidence is laid out here. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/bart-d-ehr......301.html But I suggest you pick up and read a few scholarly texts on the matter. You should also know that no one seriously believes that Moses wrote the Old Testament or probably even existed as a historical figure anymore either.

This thread is getting side tracked. We are all entitled to what we think it the 'correct' interpretation of those 66 books, however, as Danny (I believe) stated, God's word is not open to human interpretation. Updated language, ok. Some even are displeased with this.
If we disassemble what the Lord has thought to make a permanent record of for our good, growth and maturity in Him, then we pick an choose how we want Him to be, look like and act. We are making ourselves, 'god'. Payne - I find your last line disappointing and would like to know your source, please. Here are two articles that feed in to JR's discussion and include points that he may be alluding to: http://carm.org/when-were-gospels-written-and-whom http://www.unchangingword.com/obj_misc_27gospelauthors.php Blessings, Barry |

Let me make it clear that I am not really that interested in the debate as to whether the four gospels were actually written by Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. I see historical arguments on both sides. The only point I was making is that the gospels were written by man, and not by God. They were accounts by various people of events taking place in Palestine and Egypt at that time. I feel it likely that many of the events that happened at that time surrounding Jesus were indeed accurate. I do include the miracles of Jesus in this. JR |

Religions that tell you to hate on other religions, sing "we're right they are wrong" like a broken record, spend a lot of time on a list of "don't s" that will "set you free", arrogantly tell you they know what the Divine is thinking and will do to you if you don't obey that religion then pass around a plate to take your money......those religions keep you from the truth of the Divine's awesome beauty through diversity and variety. They want to keep you blind, in their control and above all else keep you from what would take you away from them and ultimately make you sincerely happy with your life and make you a representative of: unconditional Love. The scripture for unconditional Love was encoded in your heart before you were born. Follow it's light and you will be an example the world really needs to see right now.
I wrote the above this morning, on my FB page. Glad Roger chimed in so I could see this thread. You are blessed to have Roger here, he follows what he knows is right in his heart. It takes no strength to doubt or call into question, but every strength to stand up for your Truth. As I recall, those following Jesus tried to take him apart, too, because they just couldn't get the fact that the Divine might be bigger than their limited human conceptualizations.

Proverbs 28:26
He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered. I can quote several other scriptures directly from the Bible as proof and reproof which can be used to correct, and if need be, I will. Not for my edification, but so that the enemies of the Cross will be revealed, lest those who are still babes in the Lord be deceived. Payne, I am saddened to discover that you are not as intellectual as I thought you were when it comes to theology. You seem to adhere to assumptions that can easily be refuted. I am convinced that you have not done any actual research other than using google to find the first articles that supports your thesis. I understand that you don't believe in God, but why you continue to feel drawn towards the Gospel magic forum despite not believing in the validation of the Gospels, nor being a Gospel performer, only trying to disprove the Bible shows very little respect and tolerance to those who do believe it is God's inspired Word.
