I notice you talk about God's love, but don't really talk about His holiness. You also seem to avoid the word "sin". Is there are reason for that?

I am hoping we can come together here.
There is enough ego, elsewhere on the Café. The world is full of Church denominations. If we all were 100% in agreement on the Bible and Christ..There would be but one.(denomination) Christ, He hung out in Synagogue. That's my roots as well. Unfortuneately I have heard of people being asked to leave a church, because they weren't dressed properly. In Christ Love brother Harris who, still has to get my huge appearing pole out of my eye, before I reach to get out something out of my brother's....and used to be all wrapped up in himself...still a loving brother told him he(me) was a small package and overdressed....and still too old to know everything....and prince of the run on sentence....and remembering Rule 62...Take Christ serious and myself lightly...and...and and...

I think this conversation about beliefs comes down to one question, " If someone does not accept that Christ died for their sins, where do they go. Heaven or Hell?" I think the Bible is clear (in the verses mentioned earlier) the answer would be Hell, but what are your thoughts.

Universalism is quite different than mainstream Christianity.
For example -- If someone believes that a Muslim (just one example) can go to heaven, without asking and trusting Jesus to be their Savior (acknowledging their sin, repenting from their sin, realizing that Jesus died for their sins and that He's the only acceptable sacrifice to God for their sins), then there is a difference in the truth we believe. What we believe, who we worship, etc. is at the core. As believers, we are to embrace both grace AND truth. And if that person wants to share their faith with me through a book (or posts on the Café, etc.), then I think it's appropriate to ask questions to find out what they believe. - Donald

I quite agree, Donald. I am an open book, and I am delighted to answer all your questions on here as best as I can. However, "The Spiritual Stage" is not really a book about my faith. It is about universal spiritual principals that can help enhance your life both on and off stage. However, as stated earlier, I am not a universalist. JR

Yes, it is good to ask questions.
Sharing our testimony can be done through a post, a book, a Gospel Illusion show, or playing my harmonica while waiting in line at Wal-mart... with a random thought I shared for the first time during a class yesterday. It was for people working with recovering addicts that were homeless. It follows the ____ walks into a bar story format. Jesus walks into a bar... Bartender says we don't serve Jesus here... That's okay said Jesus... I come to serve you... Jesus is part of the Holy Trinity... He was , is and always will be the only way. Side note many have wore or used the WWJD. (what would Jesus do) Who knows?(said with a Jewish accent..see the question) He responded and interacted in many many ways... ...but/and he is the only way. Some say they are Christians...and continue to let their sinful nature rule them..rather than let the Holy Spirit change their thinking & action. I am glad we can remain civil here. We can have great communication skills ...motives..but if we don't have love..we will be like a clanging off key gong. (my words...not exact translation of Cor:13 Harris "falling short of the Glory of God...and falling short & bald..said Nigel the puppet that rocks & talks...

Can you explain what you liked about the "One Power" song, that you recommended others to watch?
Because that song said that all of the different Gods that people worship are the same "power". I was assuming that song was a reflection of your belief system. - Donald

The old "My God is better than your God" argument. "Lutherans are right and Methodists are wrong!!" Yes, of course it is the same God we are all worshiping. Jesus preached a message of love, peace, and acceptance of all, without judgment. I am not a fan of religion. I am a fan of the message of Jesus Christ, which was one of love, peace, joy and abundance. It was not a message of division. I think Jesus would be rather upset the way man has interpreted some of his gospel.JR |

I listened to the song.
Sounds like a song that would be more accepted in a Unity type church. Perhaps Paul would have used one of his talks to point that one power to Christ. His talk to Romans was a bit different to the ones he talked to about the unknown god. I am guessing I might have offended folks by using Jesus is allright with me...by the Doobie Brothers in a Church program. Thanks JR.
That explains, at least for me , your point of view/reference. Though Unity headquarters is nearby and I have done programs there, my Church is more traditional. Love and prayers ... Brother Harris

The concerns expressed here in the "Good News" room of the Café revolve around the fact that for most that post here, the "good news" is the gospel of Jesus Christ as found in the New Testament. Orthodox Christianity teaches and believes different than Unity, i.e., the following taken from http://www.unity.org/faq-page#t171n267
*********** "What does Unity teach about sin and salvation, heaven and hell? Sin is our separation from God, the Good, in consciousness. Salvation is now--not something that occurs after death. It happens whenever we turn our thoughts from fear, anxiety, worry, and doubt to thoughts of love, harmony, joy, and peace. The "fall" takes place in consciousness whenever we fall into negative habits of thinking. Heaven and hell are states of consciousness, not geographical locations. We make our own heaven or hell here and now by our thoughts, words, and deeds. Does Unity believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ? Yes, Unity teaches that the spirit of God lived in Jesus, just as it lives in every person. Every person has the potential to express the perfection of Christ as Jesus did, by being more Christlike in everyday life." ********** So although JR's book may be considered to be "spiritual", I believe that most who frequent here would not equate it with orthodox Christian teaching. Just sayin'. Terry

Thanks for that, Terry. I would also have to agree with you that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is indeed good news!! If more people on the planet were to follow the brilliant messages of Jesus Christ, there would be less insanity, eternal peace, and no more wars..........many of which were fought sadly in the name of religion. I think everyone on this thread is a truly wonderful and divine human being: a child of God in fact. We are all one with our Father. I have no intention of changing the beliefs of any of you, as you are all on your own spiritual journey. I am not here to defend my beliefs or to attack yours. Thanks for listening! JR

So then the theology of this book is not going to be in line with some core christian theology'so what in this book is the draw/value for a christian gospel magic performer then? To be clear this bbook isn't suposed to be a book that teaches christians on their beliefs but you say there is stuf for the performer... what would some of those things be?:-)

Thanks for your interest, Randy. I am slightly confused by your question. If you are asking if the book would be a help to those who preach the gospel, the answer is definitely "yes!"
Here is a short extract from the book: If you change your entire approach to life by being kind, loving and helpful at every opportunity, the impossible will become possible. In the bible, Jesus said we could tell mountains to move if only we had faith as small as the size of a mustard seed. What He was really saying was not that we could literally move mountains, but that each of us has the power within us to do what may seem impossible, and turn around our entire way of thinking. He was using the mountain example as a metaphor. The journey of love and compassion for all humanity is the recommended route for seekers of the impossible. Each one of you, even those of you who are stage magicians, has it in you to work true miracles. Adopt miracle-mindedness, and seemingly impossible occurrences will enter your consciousness. Your life will never be the same. “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” Albert Einstein JR |

Einstein....He's the guy that opened up all those bagel shops.
Humor and science and Theology...can make a great combination. I believe miracles did not stop in Biblical times. As a counselor I know connection to spirituality is important in life. As a Christian, I have a set of beliefs and foundations. As a performer, my own path has gone from Spirituality ( very general)to one that is more specific and includes Religion, Church & Spirituality. Some say religion is man made. I believe it is from God. love brother Harris
