I'm not concerned as to the thickness- I wont be using the silk for t***b t*p vanishes or anything.. But, I was wondering what you guys have found to be the highest quality silk/pocket square? I'd like a red one that's 17 or 18 inches (square), not transparent AT ALL, extremely soft, shiny, and overall just feels like QUALITY. Anyone have any insight on who makes the best one like that? Don't care if I have to pay a pretty penny, the silks that Tannen's sells just doesn't quite do it for me. But remember, I want it very soft, shiny and not transparent at all. Almost like those bathrobes that women sometimes wear... haha. Thanks for reading! Hope that atleast one or two of you can point me in the right direction.

No one makes this size or type of silk for magic. You are correct that they are sometimes called Pocket Squares and found in many Men's stores and department stores. Recently, I have found they are not in stores like they used to be though. They usually sell for $3 to $6.
They come in the standard men's Pocket Square sizes of 16 or 17 inches. These scarves/hankies come with rolled edges. They are made in China, and imported. You can look in this section for the reference a member posted recently for silk squares sold on eBay, seemed to be a good find. None of the magic silks were totally opaque. You will have to look outside the magic community, unless you want to pay $100 for one by the lady that makes the silk Malini Egg Bags, her name escapes me right now. Any good seamstress can put French hem on material with the proper sewing machine extension piece. |

The very best SILKS (for those that are curious) come from, Silk King Studios, Bob Sanders and Richard Hughes.

The best silks to use are pocket squares as sold in Department stores.
I use them all the time for my manipulation routines. Magic store silks are not the answer. I find the best place to get them is in Burlington Coat Factory stores. They are available in many colors. I prefer a nice shiny gray. If you have a problem getting one, let me know. I have a few dozen. |
