Disclaimer: John Cornelius is coming out with a new version with a replaceable battery. My question below pertains to my older version with a "running out" battery that my tinkering nature wants to tinker with
John Cornelius's "Thought Transmitter" uses a battery pack from Polaroid 600 series film pack. I know a local store that I may be able to get one of these old batteries from, but my question is really for those who may be familiar with this situation. I've opened my gimmick up and peeled back a layer or two, and can see some connections, but it would take quite a bit more surgery to actually get inside, and I'm reluctant to go too far (though it could be said that if the battery is going, it probably makes no difference!) and wanted a bit of guidance before I go too far to see how complex connecting a new battery might be. I've tinkered with the idea of getting some kind of small device with a bright LED and just replacing the guts with something newer - might be the best route. Any thoughts?

@Wizard - thanks, BP is the store I'm working with.
@Raven - thanks, I have seen that. Those are no longer available. I've communicated with John, and he does have a new version coming out that allows you to keep things charged, so to speak. I'm just enjoying the process of working to get the older one up to speed. FYI, I've done a minor bit of surgery - enough to suspect that going deeper might not be the best thing for an amateur like me. HOWEVER in doing the surgery, I noticed that I could get a lower level of light that flickered back and forth to a higher power of light, so I believe there may be some connection issue. Right now its on "good" I'll keep checking. That said, I'm really looking forward to getting John's latest on this.

I just was going through some magic in storage (nobody knows about hat, right?)and found the original Thought Transmitter. Fro lack of use over years the battery has died. John used to sell a replacement for $19.95 but since he passed away in May I am not sure what to do. Did anyone ever have success using another battery?

The 2 main factors are the voltage and amps, and size factor in also.

Is it worth the time and trouble of replacing the battery pack on the original model? I see that there is a new version with John's name on it. So, to save a couple bucks, is it worth it?
