I can't find many detailed Dolly Darko reviews anywhere. It looks like a really neat, spooky effect and is on my wishlist for one day but I'm wondering if any DD owners have any feedback about it? Is it easy to "operate" or does it take some special skill or lots of practice? Is it effective? Do you think it was worth the price? etc.
Cheers. |

I would love to see this in operation on video.

Me too, I can't find anything other than one official video that only shows clips from certain angles.

Not good enough, if someone was going to put out big cash they should see what they get...

That's the thing, it's a hefty investment and it's hard to tell if it will work for your needs without a proper demo video. I think the hard part in buying some effects is that without knowing how they work (until you get them) you never know if they will work for you, if that makes sense.

My take on Dolly...
Owners, will pride themselves on Ownership! They, did put out the big bucks for the prop! They are not going to come on Café,and tell you all about the methods! Best, would be to PM Dan,and ask him the questions... Not,meaning to sound,Snarky ! Dan,is user friendly!

Thanks for your reply, Dan. I think I understand what you mean and where you're coming from re: performance video. It's a beautiful piece and I'm guessing it would be more suited to a stage performance than an up-close, intimate parlor gathering? I'm thinking it won't work for my needs based on some info I've received, but it's beautifully creepy

DD is perfect for parlor!!! So many ways of using it either alone or with another effect. The theater she comes with can be "customized" to an extent. Very creepy and the authenticity is on par with a quality antique shop.

It is time for me to say goodbye to Dolly. She has been dead for far too long and I havent made time to resuscitate her. Would love it if someone from Spooky would take her as she needs someone to play with. Send me an offer and he/she may be yours. (mine comes with a boy and a girl outfit)
