What is your favorite PRESENTATION for an Ace Assembly? I like to watch Copperfield's Grandpa's Aces. I like to perform it myself using the story joke from Bill Mone's Shipwrecked.
Other story ideas include Star Trek characters beamed up from a hostile planet, or kids scaling a junkyard fence to escape a man-eating dog. What else?
The secret of deception is in making the truth seem ridiculous.

Henry Christ's venerable masterpiece is a recent favourite of mine--completely impromptu, and I like to tweak it a little for variety (e.g., my little guy's name is Jack so I do it for him as a four Jacks revelation). Of course, the Christ Aces is technically a revelation, not an assembly, but I still love it.
I have recently explored some gaffed routines, and at the moment Simon Aronson's O'Aronson Aces and Nosrona Aces are huge favourites. The so-called "widespread" gaffs for the Aronson effects are a joy to handle with only a little skill. I also love to explore the venerable McDonald Aces--there are many variations out there to check out. I must say that Kohler's Aces In Their Faces has fallen into relative disuse for me. It is a little more expensive, the colour of the gaffs is a little off for the red Bike decks now made, and card replacements are not available, requiring purchasing the the whole trick anew to get fresh gaffs. Still, I haven't spent enough time with Kohler's instruction DVD, and I should give it more of a chance. Just my opinion! So many variations on this theme, though... |

Jazz Aces is a good one. I've also enjoyed Aces Take the Plunge by Duffie.

Another vote here for Mr Lorayne's Fantastic Ace Assembly.
He has so many to choose from. But this is my favourite. I think it's what you might describe as a "Gasper!" Many thanks Mr Lorayne. I wish I had your imagination and ingenuity. I never fail to impress when I perform works inspired by your good self. Also, perhaps I missed it but I have not seen Mr Colombini's Aria mentioned here. Very quick and easy to execute but totally baffling to a lay audience. Regards 0045 |

I do an ace Routine which starts with
1. Harry Lorrayne's "Revolving Aces" - I don't often hear ppl talk about it but its great. 2. Final Verdict (John Bannon) - This time you cut the deck 3. Twisting Aces (Just a little interlude until next ace effect) 4. Contact Colors (Colombini) - very nice ace assembley with a kicker 5. Quick As A Wink (Fulves) - Not an ace assembley but I just like presenting the Aces as detectives. This effect is sweet! 6. Search & Destroy (Fisher) - Ill sometimes continue the Aces as detectives story in this routine. K .. Ill stop there |

I love Ricky Jay's presentation of the Ace Assembly. Which I know is taken verbatim from the Expert at the Card Table. I think its more so the way he recites the patter that I love. From an effect point of view, I agree Hitchcock Aces is another of my favourites or Melin's 'Lost' Aces by Jack Merlin

Steve Reynolds has a great variation on Final Aces in his book Area 52, with no gimmicks and it's even fairly easy.
If you just get some cards out or if someone hands you a deck, Mr. Loraynes Fantastic Ace Assembly is awesome, just like his Jazz Aces, which I can't recall the name of, maybe Rock N Roll Aces? Jack Carpenter's O'henry's Return is great, too. |

While not an Ace Assembly as we know today, I think one of the best is "Another Four Ace Trick!" Out of Al Baker's Second book. I've had great experiences performing this trick close up. I just substitute the glass for the card case. I love the boldness of this trick, as well as the subtleties involved.
As for work on more modern assemblies, Steve Reynolds is my go to guy! Three favorites of mine by him are Fireback Aces (Route 52), Meddler's Assembly (Cosmic Sport and Seek 52), and Shadow Zone Assembly (SRO). I love Steve's solutions for Ace Assemblies, they are always fooling, and in some cases completely out of the normal spectrum of the way things normally go. Here's a clip of Meddler's Assembly to show you what I mean. |

I like the one where the aces gather together in one packet.

I heard from a friend that anecdotal evidence is actually quite reliable. |

David Britland has a beautiful assembly in Spellbinder magazine. Just a lively, economical routine with a different rhythm than most. I taped it for an upcoming Spellbinder DVD.
Jack Parker had some great assemblies. His Jazz Aces variation with a kicker was brilliant.

Jazz Aces with the kicker is the most simplistic, economic, and powerful routine I've seen. It happens quickly and you won't lose your audience. The kicker is crucial in these routines I believe.

What's the best presentation of McDonald's Aces or with the Aces in your Faces cards? I haven't touch mine in a while but would love to bring them out again.

Lifeofwonder, ultimately the best presentation of those is the one that appeals to you the most. I know that's probably not the answer you're looking for, but I feel as though is a good one.
There are tons of methods and presentations for those. The one that I'm personally favoring at the moment is Diary Queens by Chris Mayhew. I love the visuals and speed of the trick. |
