Andre,
Please don't let these trolls bother you. Anyone with real expertise in thread knows YOU KNOW. You are just modest. I will be buying this on your recommendation in April. We have 57,000 members, many are fake accounts that just want to **** people off. Don't let them win my friend. James Quote: On 2014-02-17 15:13, Andre Hagen wrote:

First off, Andre posted - after his exchange with Ekuth - that while he called his original post a "review" that it wasn’t actually a review, and I agree with that. He did post about his positive experiences with the product but certainly not a full review. That said I do appreciate Andre's comments and I respect his experience in magic and on the Café. Magic_son simply said he'd love to see a complete review, which is reasonable, and then he praised the comparison to Copin. I don’t see a problem there. I took a quick look at all of Magic_son's other posts - it is a short list - and I didn't see one negative post among them. Quite the contrary. I think you do a disservice by calling him a troll. I know you better than this and I really think you misunderstood his post here. Thank you. Jim |

Oh how I wish I had kept my enthusiasm to myself. The single most important point that thrilled me with Spinnerets was the absolute ease in bringing it into play whenever conditions are right. Which brings up a spoiler alert:
In retrospect regarding Bruno Copin's ITS I tried using a Spinneret just to to see if I could use it for my favorite Copin routine (The Butterfly Effect) "in a pinch" as I said it in a previous post without trying it first. Very unscientific of me. Same table, same lighting conditions and spectators unsure what was going to happen. It seemed to work but I SAW THE THREAD soi I would not care to try it again in that lighting or context. Although I managed OK and I don't think my spectators were just being kind, I got through it okay...but it gave me an uneasy feeling. So I will make one caveat here. Steven's thread is strong and therefore has a larger diameter so use it when conditions are right as you would with Kevlar. I rather wish in time Steven might use other threads such as Fearson's Vectra or EVE but for now this is a very robust thread he uses. If you use Spinnerets in proper lighting it will serve you well. I do carry then always only use it when coditions are favorable...which is true of all thread work as well as close-up magic in general. My qpologies to Magic_son but when he said we need "someone with actual experience and expertise" it hit me wrong after everything else and pride and the devil made me comment. Sorry for my naïveté and I hope you wil forgive an old magician whose been at it close to 70 years and rarely finds anything new to trip hsi trigger. Andre

To All,
I felt real bad that I came across the wrong way, especially to a person that has as many years in Magic as my father. I didn't mean any disrespect, and all is forgiven from my perspective. Bruce |

Not knowing too much about these post, I want to take a moment and thank J-Mac. I do not know if I would have put the time/energy to look up other post. I didn't even know how it could sound until I read the other post. I would never say someone didn't have expertise /experience, even if I did know them. From what I have read it appears that most everyone in the Café has more experience and expertise then me, especially Mr. Hagen.
Thank you again J-Mac Bruce (ps, I am getting my post up) |

Hey Bruce,
I actually meant to only quote Andre's post. Sorry, my fault. James Quote: On 2014-02-18 12:11, Magic_son wrote:

I have this and Spinnerets are a really great idea. The amount of work that goes into making one of these micro thread reels is amazing.
Steven is also a super nice approachable guy. The DVD is excellent with great close up shots and no extra talking about unneeded things. Concise and to the point, he is a great teacher. The effects are all pretty easy for thread work. My only negative is the thread is a bit thick. If he could do different threads it would be perfect. James

James and Andre, is the thread easily replaceable with another type, if desired? If so, are there any issues that may crop up if the thread is a weaker or stronger kind of thread?
Thanks in advance ~

Hey hey now, gentlemen . . . Justin Miller is the Thread-Man; no arguing permitted on that point. The Steven X must have his own 'indepndent' reasons for not playing with Justin Miller . . . but that's the way the thread breaks. May we all prosper from the advice of those in the know!

Thanks so much James! Like Andre Hagen said "If you use Spinnerets in proper lighting it will serve you well. " I chose this particular thread because it it perfect for the effects on the DVD. Like with any thread, you have to watch your lighting and background. The thread is slightly thicker than the single strand of wooly nylon, which makes it more reliable and durable when floating heavier objects. This eliminates the fear of the thread breaking.
