Now here's something I didn't know about him. "He was also given to explosive rages. Mr. Caesar once dangled a terrified Mr. Brooks from an 18th-story window until colleagues restrained him. With one punch, he knocked out a horse that had thrown his wife off its back, a scene that Mr. Brooks replayed in his movie “Blazing Saddles.”" |

Brooks's description of an incident he witnessed between a cab driver and Sid is priceless.
I forget how the incident got started: I think the cabbie clipped Sid's car: Sid got of the car. The cab driver was wearing a little bow tie and had his "wing window" open, a small window to the side of the main drivers side window. the argument escalated. Sid asked the driver: "Do you remember your birth?" The cab driver looked surprised. Sid said" "Let's recreated it" and reached into the wing window, grabbed the guy by the bowtie and tried to pull him through the wing window. |

Sid got into an auto accident outside of Rome, and jumped out of the car screaming and raging in fake Italian. The driver of the other car was yelling back at him for a minute or so before he realized that the other guy was speaking total gibberish and cracked up.
I got to meet Caesar and Imogene Coca at a live performance. Lee Delano, who is a regular at the Magic Castle, was Sid's second banana for many years, and he introduced us. It was a huge thrill. I remember whole scenes from his show when I was a kid. That show and Ernie Kovacs' were my favorites. |

I too worked with Sid and I must say what a all around great guy, and what an entertainer. His stories and attitudes were priceless. Rest in peace, you made a difference in our lives.
