I own one. Last week I saw on a videotape a routine with this board. It was a nice routine. The magician make some drawings and ended in a face. The children were crying, the eyes are moving! What eyes are moving? I shall show you that they doesn't, the magician gives reply. He pointed with his fingers slowly in the eyes and the eyes are moving and the mouth give a big scream, he did it another time. That was a nice interaction. Can You give me some other advice, to build a nice show around this trick? My style is clowning/comedy.
Thanks from Holland -- Harry

I use the Axtell CD "ART-O-Matic" and have great respones from audiences of all ages. The CD provides all the voices (except yours) and sound effects and it starts off by you saying that you always wanted to be an artist and you met a salesperson who had art lessons on tape. Naturally things go all wrong, and you end up with a very comical face. Suddenly the eyes move to sound effects, the drawing talks and sings and in the end you wipe off the drawing. See axtell.com for additional ideas and availabilty of different CDs.
If you are not a vent then the CDs are perfect. Good Luck.
Be remembered for performing what looks like MAGIC, not skill.

I have done Frankenstein for Halloween and other characters.
Are you a Ventriloquist? I can offer some basics if you have never used puppets but I don't want to bore you if you are experienced.

Glodmagic,
If it's not too much trouble I'd like to learn the basics too. I'm going to purchase the drawing board very soon so I'd really appreciate your help. Thanks, Mike

I have tried since I was a kid to do vent work. I cant make my voice understandable and not have my lips move much. I too have the drawing board and the art o matic cd. I have also dedided that for future shows. I will record my own voice on a tape and make it interactive like the Axtell cd.

I have posted on this topic before, so I do not want to bore folks who have already read it. I am not a vent but I use the drawing board for adult shows. I wanted a way to take advantage of it without seeming hokey. They work for some folks, but I am not that awed by the tapes that go with the trick, although the board is excellent. A way to get around this is to find a well known singer, who can easily be drawn cartoon style and still be recognized. Turn the drawing of the character into a funny contest...who can guess who you are drawing. When they figure it out, you ask if they want him to sing since he stopped by. Of course they do. You then play a song, or part of a song by this person from a cd or tape player. My tape is such I can easily do a medley of the guy's famous songs, as the drawing lip syncs. This goes on for maybe two minutes, and at the end, the tape gets slower, slower, slower, then it just freezes and stops. At that point I have erased the final line of the drawing. A couple easy to guess and draw faces that very nicely work within the "confines" of the eye and mouth spacing on the board are Mick Jagger and Elvis. There are others as well. This routine plays with great laughs.

Hi!
Great to read all the posts on my Magic Drawing Board. It's used by vents, magicians, clowns, comedians and speakers in so many different ways. It always surprises me how you creative entertainers figure new ways to use it. Many use our AxTrax CDs and we are producing more of them this year for the board. We also have a mini board and a REMOTE CONTROL board now! You can find more info on these at http://www.axtell.com/mdb.html We also have free Vent Lessons on line and sell many videos and books on the subject. If you really concentrate on the lessons you can actually learn vent in about 3 months. Many have do so. Our free starter lessons are at http://www.axtell.com/learn.html Nice to join you! Ax
