My local town council are planning a small easter event. This would involve some competitions and stalls. They are looking for musicians and entertainers to perform - free of charge and also bring own equipment (such as pa etc). What are you thoughts on doing this sort of gig? Is it worth doing a few hours stroll around to be able to hand out business cards? What are the disadvantages? It would be outside and potentially quite busy - think local market. I have never performed in this situation before and I am a bit apprehensive. Any advice would be appreciated.

Sounds like a good opportunity to give some business cards and get recognized.
