Erik has updated the gimmicks so that they are way more versatile and customizable! The 2.0 version doesn't have any of the same limitations that the original version had so you have total control over the cards you want to use.

The quality issues have also been addressed. The gimmicks are made very differently from the original.

I'm VERY happy with this release. Way to go, Erik!

Anyone familiar with this who would like to share a little more about what has been "improved?"

On the original, you were limited to turning blank cards into a royal flush. You couldn't choose what suit you wanted.

The 2.0 version gives you full control of what suit you want, royal flush or any other poker hand. (or any selection of cards for that matter, not limited to poker)

The gimmicks have also been improved to be VERY reliable.

I got a really bad set the first time. I might check out the new version.

This is indeed an improvement from the first version...the gimmicks are well made. You can tell Erik had put a lot of time, research and the hours in to refine this. If your a card person, you'll love all the nuances he's added. I really just wanted this for the original effect to be used as a great opener and with a much improved gimmick, it's well worth the purchase

I assume the DVD is the same as before? I look forward to seeing some reviews on how the new gimmicks compare to the originals.

Read the posts right above yours for starters. I think they are pretty detailed.

I should have said "some more reviews". I know some people had issues with the original wearing out after some use. Since the 2.0 version was just released, I thought it might take some time to confirm the cards are lasting longer.

I do like the idea of the new versatility. If the DVD has some new/updated material to go along with the new gimmicks, getting it would be a no-brainer.

I assumed wrongly! Here's a quote from Erik in another thread:

I actually put a review of this up myself in another thread in Tricks and Effects.
I am very pleased with Poker Test 2.0 and am happy I bought it.

Just to clarify what another poster said about the freedom of changing the cards, you can change the reveal cards into basically whatever you like, but the cards first shown are still all blank. That has not and cannot change.

I got so disgusted with my first set...it wore out way too fast...as people who own it know...if the gimmick wears out, the whole trick is worthless
Even trying to "refresh" it didn't help...emailed the creator and got no reply...don't wish to give him any more of my money
He needs to learn how to give better customer service...

I can completely understand why you would feel that way dooblehorn.
I heard all of the horror stories the first time around from folks like yourself, that's why I stayed away from it and never bought version one.

Honestly, I think he may have just been a young kid venturing into marketing a product for the first time and kind of got in over his head.
But that is just speculation, I don't know any of the facts regarding what happened or what didn't, except that he left quite a few people unhappy.

Just reassuring people that 2.0 works as advertised. Haven't had it all that long but have practiced, played, and performed it a whole bunch of times in that short period and it appears that it should hold up as well as would be expected. Hopefully he learned his lesson and won't make the same mistakes again.

The ones that got the 1st one should be able to return it for a discount on the 2.0

If you bought it from Penguin I would ask them about it. They are pretty good about keeping their customers happy.

When was version 2.0 released? I don't know if Penguin just moved some or all of the version 1 reviews over to version 2.0, but there are still reviews which talk about the lack of quality and how it wears out quickly and you can't then fan, making it worthless.

I'm pretty sure those are older reviews from 1.0.
2.0 has only received good reviews from the few I've seen so far, which includes my own.

I know this is one of those tricks that cannot be inspected by spectators.

what do you all say to your spectators if they want to see the cards after you have performed the impossible?
