No thanks. I only purchase from UK dealers. Nothing against Penguin. Just the unreliability of international post.

Pegasus you must be joking
If you use the Fed Ex facility Penguin offer you will have your package in 3 days and you can track it all the way Ok not worth it for one or two items but if you wait until you have several things you want it so is ! the savings on the tricks more than covers the shipping costs |

Very wary of this I had so much trouble with the original set as I know a lot of people did
Even had a replacement set sent to me which was better but still let me down in performance so Lost confidence in performing this shame as it was a great routine Why is 2.0 version better? |

If I choose free shipping (over $50) I'll get Fed Exe'd. Or if I pay for shipping but a book is involved I'll get Fed Exe'd as well (anymore I might as well just choose free shipping if they are gonna fed ex it anyway, right?) Back on topic, shame about the quality control of version 1. Mine still works ok and is just starting to loose its stick, I got a lot of milage out of mine....this trick gets fantastic reactions if you get one that works. I just ordered the new one last week, looking forward to it. |

Be very interested in your opinion of the 2.0 version Re your Fed Ex try the 3 day option that comes up it's about 26 dollars. (£16 aprox) I use this all the time I order on a Tuesday and because we are 8 hours behind it gets shipped same day and always arrives on Thursday Avoid ordering late in the week as the week end adds extra days waiting time As I said what you save on the items ordered pays for the postage But a great bonus is if it's not in stock Penguin will not add it to your order which unfortunately our British Dealers will happily take your money and you can wait for ages if it's out of stock and they don't even email you to advise it's not available You normally find out when you phone to ask why it's not arrived (this is from personal experience on many occasions) |

Once received, I performed it "out of the box" and it works perfect for me. The reason it works better is due to a slightly changed method. I will now be using this for closeup as well as stage while the original version is lost somewhere in my prop room --Charlie |

This is a great trick. I've performed it about 12 times now and it looks just as good in person as it does on the trailer. Two considerations: (1) you need to figure out how to transport it. The cards come in a manilla coin envelope and Erik claims that's how he carries the cards but, let's face it, that's about as classy as showing up in a vest with cards on it. So you'll need to figure out a better sollution. For my show on Saturday, I carried the cards around in my JOL packet trick wallet. That worked just fine although I did notice that the gimmick started to wear. Obviously can't tip the gimmick but you want to avoid as much friction as possible during transport; (2) the gimmicks will wear out. Erik doesn't teach you how to make your own (for obvious reasons). So when the cards wear out, you will have to either buy a new set or make your own if you can figure out how to make your own. For fans of SF (if you have it, you'll know what that stands for) like me, rejoice. I made up two sets over the weekend and they work flawlessly. If you don't have or know what SF is, you'll have to find your own sollution if you want to make new sets.
Nice thing about this version is that you can start with any back design you want. Takes about 15 seconds to prep the gimmicks and you are off and running. The cards will change from your back design to red Bikes. If you ever want to switch out for another back design, no sweat. 20 more seconds and you are good to go. An idea I'm toying with in my head is using double deckers from Card Shark. You don't need to because normal cards work great, but if you want to make the packet thinner, I don't see why DD's wouldn't work. I'm going to try it tonight. All in all, great release. I can't see anyone not liking this. The only real considerations are the two I mentioned above. I have no real sense of how long these will last, but based on how my set looks after doing it 12 times at one show, I'd say you can get two shows out of them before you'll either need to touch them up or replace. Now, if you treat them better than I do or find a better way to transport, they will likley last longer. If you are a hobbyist and carry them in the manilla coin envelope, they will likely last quite a long time. |

And the new stuff just has a way better hold on the card than RF could ever do. I feel more confident with it in my hands. And versatility of the opening back design is pretty awesome, when parented with a rainbow deck (I have the Cardshark one w/ Josh Jay).

I bought this for a specific gig I had this past Saturday. It was at a "Brow Bar" in Macy's Union Square in San Francisco. That's where women get their eyebrows waxed, facial hair removed, eyelash supplies and other make-up and services concerning their faces. I was hired to do close-up strolling magic for the women waiting their turn for services and to entertain their boyfriends/husbands while they were waiting on their ladies. I was a bit concerned about being able to engage the women in a situation like this without them feeling uncomfortable or awkward, a strange guy approaching them while they are waiting to get their eyebrows waxed or remove their mustache hairs!
I used the presentation that I was there providing another service for the ladies while they were waiting their turn. I put a picture of an eye chart on the envelope with the cards in it and I explained to them that I was going to do not a traditional eye test, but rather a recognition exercise. I told them that San Francisco was a very busy and chaotic city and people should always be aware of what is going on around them, especially women. While it sounded a bit odd, they found it JUST plausible enough and played along. I took out the cards, told them I would give them 5 seconds to study the fronts & backs and remember as much as they could about them. I then went into the Poker Test 2.0 routine. when I showed them the Ace of Hearts, they were a bit puzzled, but bought the premise that they may have just overlooked the small red A and pip in the corner. When I showed the backs of the cards to be now red rather than the blue backed Hoyle cards they originally saw, they were shocked and surprised. When I turned the cards over to reveal the royal heart flush, they were stunned and floored and absolutely entertained! I then explained that I was a magician hired to entertain them while they were waiting for their services and to just have some fun. Now they were totally interested and up for anything, and I could do my other standard effects I perform at close-up gigs. Eric, this ABSOLUTELY made it 100 times easier for me to engage these ladies in a very specific environment and situation, thank you SO much for releasing this effect! I can't wait to use it this Friday at another gig just as the super visual and stunning opener I feel this is. Hank |

I have just ordered this from Penguin Magic and I am based in the UK. I will leave a short review once it arrives and I'll also give my feedback on the flat pack free shipping service and postal time for the benefit for other magicians in the UK who may be considering buying this as it doesn't look like this will be sold by UK dealers for ages if at all.

I have been assured by Erik, after giving him a couple of UK sites, that this effect will be available over the pond very soon. Thanks Erik.

Yep, this set of gimmicks is definitely better than the 1.0 version. Nice of Penguin to offer a discount to previous purchasers, too.
Keeping with the "observation test" theme, I wonder if this might be a nice effect to follow with: http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/801

Mine arrived today. It works beautifully and is as strong and visual as in the trailers. I'm not familiar with the first version and its issues, but I can say that it appears this should hold up OK, though I always get a bit nervous with these types of gimmicks as only time will tell if they wear or not. I don't know what the exact type of "secret sauce" he used is, but if its something that is readily available, I think it would have been a nice bonus if he included how to repair the gimmick if it wears on the DVD. Again, may not be an issue at all as only time will tell, but it would be nice to know just in case.
