I'm looking for a couple of experienced reviewers to give feedback on an effect that I am releasing soon. You can see a general description here (alternate link).
It's gotten quite a few very positive reviews already and a has foreword by Bill Cushman, but I am not very well known in these parts. That's why I'm looking for one or two trusted people who are open to giving me detailed feedback and/or doing an honest public review. This effect is close to my heart, and I really appreciate anyone who is interested in helping out. If that interested person is you, you can PM me or reply in this thread. -Aaron. |

Happy to look and give a detailed review. Have 30 years of performance under my belt and frequently get effects to review from others.

While I have only read the description of your effect and do not know any details, the name "Bridge" could be problematic be cause it could be easily confused with Bill Montana's work entitled "The Bridge".

One of the best guys to review this for you would be Michael Murray. If you PM me, I would be happy to introduce you both.

I should have been ready for the flood of PMs, but of course I wasn't. I'll be spending today sorting through these...
Anyway, I picked a couple experienced reviewers and am now adding a wildcard reviewer or two with the help of my magic 8-ball app. I want to limit the number of people who get free copies, since some will see those as biased. If anyone wants to trade effects and would consider writing a review if inspired to do so (no pressure), let me know. And thanks everyone for the advice about the Bill Montana book. I am aware of his work, though I have not seen it myself. What I'm releasing has been Bridge to me for a few years now, and it is both a fitting title and resonates emotionally for me. I think those who get the document will see exactly why. -Aaron. |

I met with Aaron last year for a horrid lunch and a wonderful conversation. He's a sincere fellow, and an original thinker. It's entirely possible that what he has to offer could have a tremendous impact on the performance of mentalism.
If you're one of the lucky ones to get a peek at Bridge, you could be getting in on the ground floor of something that has the potential to be something quite remarkable. David

On a side note, I found the discription web page impossible to read, between the colors and fonts, and (most likely) the age of my eyes. I did see Bill Cushman's name; so if he has good things to say, I'm sure it is very good. Best wishes, Tony |

Thanks for the feedback, Tony. I've actually been worrying about that, since I am in a place with very little technology right now and can't view the page on anything but my own machine.
And not that it should come to this, but if you highlight the text, it should all show up in the exact same colour. If anyone else has trouble reading my page, give me a heads up and I'll change the theme. IAIN- I'm sending you an IM. David- Thanks for the kind words. I've been meaning to ask if you want an updated copy of Bridge- just let me know if you do. And a warning to everyone else: If a place is famous for its psychics and not its food, there's probably a good reason. |

Bob, assuming that you are referring to me and not the guy who wants Exact Change, I'll give a bit of an introduction:
I got into performance almost by accident during an interesting study in university on the psychology and the dynamics of ritual experience. At some point my supervising professor and I figured that if the work was right, we should be able to go into the neuroscience lab and knock out some scientists Benny Hinn-style, which turned out to be true. Most of my early shows were in science labs and lectures, before I finally took performance out into the world. In the years since, I've mixed a lot of my earlier methods with things from magic and mentalism, which allows me to tell a different range of stories and to structure the demonstrations better. I also just love the thinking and the history of Western performance magic. Maybe this is a reflection of where I came from, but I think of the best magic as sort of like this cow with a glass side (kind of a window inside) that I saw at a university farm when I was little. You're looking at something that's completely ordinary, but it's so fascinating because it was invisible until someone did something crazy to let you see it. Methods like Bridge are to me among the strongest things that I could ever do, because they somehow seem impossible yet completely natural at the same time. You can explain exactly how they work and it just adds to the effect. They can be extremely subtle physically, but they explode in the imagination because of how people connect to them on different levels. And there's not the same mess as putting a window into a cow. So that's a bit about me. Bill also does a small introduction in his foreword. |

I know that me being a newbie poster it seems suspicious to come out now when there's a new e-book release. Please don't beat me up too bad.
My name's James, I became interested in magic when I was young and saw Doug Henning on the Muppet Show. This stayed with me as I explored magic. I think I was about 13 when I bought my copy of Practical Mental Effects. That changed everything. I fell in love with Mentalism and Bizarre magic. Arthur Monroe's Voodoo out of that book seemed a bit out of place (but I liked it.) It introduced me to bizarre presentation. Eugene Burger's "Spirit Theater" introduced me to Tony Andruzzi and from there on I explored the Bizarre side of the art. I love the thinking of both Bizarre and Mentalism but I tend to lean towards Mentalism the most. For outside influences; I'd have to count the surrealists as inspiration. I see Mr. Cassidy and a few other big names post here which is exciting and nerve wracking. I'm not here to hype the product; I believe it's strong enough to stand on it's own. I just wanted to say that I agree with Mr. Thiel when he said that Aaron "is sincere and original thinker ...and could have a tremendous impact on the performance of mentalism." I met Aaron who was most kind to spend several hours of his time talking. He's shown to be a genuine, caring guy who has been nothing but respectful of the art; and has a wickedly creative mind. For the book itself; let me say that Aaron has taken Bill Cushman's The Jumping Pulse from his work Suggestabilities, as a jumping off point and expanded and explored so many different ways to create other effects. A versatile utility that allows the user of Bridge to take the presentation in one direction or anouther depending on what you wish to accomplish. I love thinking like this because it sets my imagination on fire creating various presentations and other ways to use this. As Aaron knows, I sent him a cluster !@#$ of thoughts on his Bridge when he let me in on his rough draft. I have no doubt that for many his Bridge will be the same catalyst for brainstorming. To your participants I believe this is a wonderful way to connect and build rapport in a genuine experience that's as close to the real thing as possible. Yes I know it sounds cliche, sorry, but I feel it's true. As a side note, since Aaron has come into the art /craft from a different background than most, I attempted to help with background citation. That is I mentioned as many possible sources for citation as I could think of be it relative to his Bridge or not. Including the samely named Bill Montana's "The Bridge". What Aaron chose to credit is in his hands. If I over looked someone or failed to mention someone then I sincerely apologize. Congratulations Aaron on your new release. I truly believe that you have the talent and the ability to go far. I'm a fan and will be keeping an eye on your work. |

James is real. I saw some guy push him over in a food court one time.
By the way, I wouldn't call your account too suspicious in this case, since the join date is a year before the study that would lead to all of this. If it was a fake self-promotion account, you would really have to respect the foresight. Or precognition...? P.S. Long time no speak. I'm sending you an updated copy of Bridge now. |

Watched the videos - very nice.
I say you better also check with Patrick Redford - maybe its a totally different method - but material from Patrick's work allows me to dow what I saw on the video... a kind of psychokinetic voodoo pseudo hypnotic effect etc. In any case, I look forward to the reviews! It does look great.
