Looking into a geek magic act.

So, I'm looking at:

Needle Thru Arm
Knife Thru Arm
Poking out your eye
Wrist Chopper - one where hand falls into basket - then Living Hand Illusion

etc.

a) Any further suggestions of effects would be most welcome

b) What's the best Knife Thru Arm? The best Wrist Chopper? etc.

glass eating

blockhead

torn and restored dove

What are they? How do I do them or where can I get them or where can I get info on them?

Geekmagic?... Pen protectors? Slide rules? Broken and almost restored glasses? Trying to look cool waving around a stick of chalk or a pointer?

In jokes like counting by powers of two?

String from stomach maybe?

James, geek magic is not something to be approached lightly and is not often teachable via the written word alone.

I would suggest that you take a look at the forum devoted to that portion of our Art and check with them. Tim Robbins, a member and fantastic geek performer, often posts to these pages, so keep your eyes open for him. He has (ar had?) a school for carny geek performance methods.

Blockhead is the hammering of a 10 Penny Nail into your nose.

Glass eating is the eating of a broken clear glass lightbulb.

These techniques are not something to approach lightly and having a mentor to learn them from is almost essential.

Better late than ever I suppose.

First of all I have been a side show performer( long ago) and did most of the "working acts" including blockhead, I do it different, using a screwdriver instead of hammering a nail into nose.

I patter about having started doing this act using an ice pick, but so many people said I had a screw loose that I switched to a phillips screwdriver, after I finish, I use the tired but effective old line that I do the act because it feels so good when I stop. Another unmentioned act ,but easy to do is "walking on glass

Razor blades are allways a good idea!

Speaking of which does anybody know here I can get info on an effect callled "Slasher "

Someone brought one up to The Magic Circle in England a month or two ago. It was very effective.

I haven't seen it in person, but its on my wish list.
