Hi all,
I am looking for a buskers table on which to perform the three shell game (and Fast & Loose). I saw the one sold by School for Scoundrels but I also like the look of the table tops sold by Tim Flynn at http://www.timflynnmagic.com/magic-products/ I was wondering if suede is a good working surface for a three shell routine? Any insight would be appreciated. |

Mike: I took a close up mat and glued it to plywood and put into a wooden picture frame. I sit it on a keyboard stand. The whole thing cost me well under $100 and took almost no time to make. Since it's adjustable I can use the stand either standing up or sitting down. If I'm standing, I like to work a little higher than a standard table height. I find it easier on my back.

Mike:
Suede makes a good surface for working the shells and looks nice, too. I like the looks of the Flynn tables. |

I have Flynn's table. It's the Cadillac of tables. Had it for almost 10 years and still looks good. You can't go wrong. 5 thumbs up!!!
Tim's a good guy and will customize the table you want. Tell him Prof. Gizmo sent you! |

I already went ahead and got a Tim Flynn Table. In fact I now have two.
They are indeed very well made and Tim is a standup guy! Highly recommended. |

I just want to take a few minutes to post here as I do not take the time to do it often enough.
Thank you for the kind words about the "Buskers" tables I build. I am just a guy like so many of you all that got into magic because you simply love to perform. I met Gazzo about 10 years ago and he taught me the importance of getting larger. I mean, get out from that small close up pad that you have been practicing your cups and balls on! His table measured approximately 36 X 21 and that is what I make the one's I build. The first table I built was with scrap lumber and also floor molding. It was just for me and soon my magic friends were asking for me to build them one. Now that meant I had to use better quality materials, actually drive to a store and pick it all out. I am not a wood worker nor a carpenter. I have limited skills and that shows in the tables I build. However, they are solidly built and made with love. (And some cussing and blood too) I met Steve Brooks a few years ago, and he needed another Magic table like we need another dvd or prop. BUT, He loved the purple... I made a deal with him with some trepidation. I wa afraid that I would be building mas quantities of tables... Steve assured me it wouldn't work like that, and he was correct. Many people want the "stand" they see in my pictures, but I HATE making them, so I recommend a key board stand.Like Jakeg mentions above, they are readily adjustable and I think that is GREAT! I love this magic journey and am amazed that I have sent magic tables to France and the U.K. as well as all over America and canada. WHOWOULDATHUNKIT! |

If running the 3SG as a con a piece of cardboard works well with bottle caps or bottom ridge shells. I have to travel to do it and only have one other person with me. If doing this has legal consequences I would use things that look like trash and can be left behind (sans SFS peas) It looks like they use cheap car floor mats in Europe. This being said I am still a newbie at running the con with about a year under my belt.
