Just out of a bit of curiousity from those who use cards.
What are your go-to card tricks for both magicians and laymen? Here's mine. Layman: Here then there Red Hot Mama Charlier Ace cut production Marlo's Bluff Ace Assembly Dr. Daley's Last Trick Twisting the Aces Magicians: Slow Motion Aces (Larry Jennings version) Ricky Jay's "Manipulation" (producing all of the spades in order from ace to king) Don't have too much on magicians-- I'm pretty much just a beginner, I'm strongly interested in what you guys would do especially if performing for other magicians. If you do list some tricks, and you're willing to share a cross reference from where you learned it, I would be most appreciative. I'm trying to add things to my "repertoire." |

For laymen, my go to stuff is:
Sloppy Shuffle Triumph(love this one) Invisible Deck Design For Laughter Ultimate Transpo Some kind of Ace routine I don't really perform for magicians, but if my only intent was to fool them, I'd probably do a self worker with some kind of stack. The tricks in Royal Road chapter 2 come to mind in particular... |

Numero Uno seems to fry magicians and laymen alike, but in different ways. The layman just thinks it's a great trick while the magician can't figure out for the life of him how it's done. Such an underated trick in my opinion.
For laymen: Now You See It Do As I Do Ambitious Card Cards Across Poor Man's Monte Come to think of it, most tricks I do get good reactions with lay people; probably because they don't know much about cards to begin with. |

I have not performed in front of any other magicans yet as I have only started teaching myself a few months ago with Royal Road. But so far the tricks I feel I perform the best are Observation Test and Telepathy Plus.

For laymen I like to do:
1. Cards Across 2. Card to Pocket 3. Angle Zero 4. Kismet 5. Magician V.S. Gambler 6. Here Then There 7. And a effect where two spectators sign two different cards (one the back and one the face) and then both of the signatures are found only on one card. For Magicians I do the same things, but I try to misdirect them more, even if they know the effect, I like to hear from them that I did every sleight unnoticeable.

MAGIC IS ABOUT 85% PSYCHOLOGY! The "chicanery" is only about 15%!!! --And, REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY WORKS!!! Oh! You may roughly divide the "chicanery" into: sleight of hand skill, perceptual illusion, and esoteric science principles. HARRY LORAYNE knows what he doing! YOU should be so successful!

I really think we should all pay close attention to mslippo - he REALLY knows what he's talking about - think of all the contributions he's made to magic over the decades - not only to magic, but to science, biology, you name it. And, of course, we're all grateful for the deep thinking of JD Straws What? God save us!

Oh, and talk about overuse, and people getting tired...of mgrippo coming in with his great, gratuitous, philosophy whenever I post. TireSOME. (Besides obvious, jealously-ridden foolishness.) Piece of advice, mgrippo - SHOVE IT!!

Magician vs Gambler! I forgot about this one. I remember doing thing when I wasn't as good and it still fried people. The main reason I stopped using this trick was because I wasn't confident enough with DLs at the time and this required more than one (threee from what I remember). I should refresh my brain with this and start performing it again. I'm sure I'd do it a lot better. It's an absolute killer.

Oh, and since these "lovelies" repeated, let me do the same: "Glad you're staying away from my MAGICIAN VS GAMBLER, 10-CARD P0KER DEAL, HaLo ACES, FANTASTIC ACE ASSEMBLY, LORAYNE'S POKER DEAL, AMAZING PREDICTION, OUT OF THIS UNIVERSE, IMPROMPTU OUT OF THIS WORLD, and on and on and on. (You can see some of these performed at www.youtube.com/harrylorayneonvideo."
And since they've given me the opportunity, I'll add: Glad you're staying away from my Salt-Less, my Ambitious Card Routine, The Sloppy Card Trick, Coincidentally Yours, Stop!, One-Eyed Jack Sandwich, Foursome, The Epitome Location, Strange Voyage, Card Sharp & The Four Gamblers, The Super Peek, my Impromptu Linking Card, The Equalizer, Universal Reversal, To Catch An Ace #5, Status-Quo Shuffle, and on and on. Thanks, Guys - I'll list more if you want me to!

Yes, metaljohn, it's a layman jaw dropper. One of the reasons for my first post - to remind you, and others, of some "jaw droppers" you may have forgotten. But, obviously, people like JDThings have no concept.

Hopefully you'll forgive me for growing tired of seeing your condescending posts over and over in what's supposed to be a helpful forum for people to learn in. If not, that's OK too, just keep pushing everything you've ever published as if that is the only answer in such an expansive art form. I wonder how you got to be so advanced in card handling, but then I use my deductive reasoning to decide the only possible way would've been to purchase one of your dvd's or books available at your website

JD...I mention books that may just be helpful to people (seems as if my stuff has been helpful to people for over FIVE DECADES). But, obviously, nowhere near as helpful as YOUR stuff! And let's see - see if we can make sense of this...you've grown tired of my "condescending" (wonder if you know the meaning of the word) posts after, let's see --- 6199 of my posts. Interesting - because I've grown exceptionally tired of your "idiotic/meaningless" posts after only 43 of yours. Interesting. So, for my 6200th post let me repeat - We are all sooooo grateful for JD Straws What? posts. He may even come in with another load of wit for his 44th!! God save us!
